No, it doesn't seem "more than fair", it seems ridiculously absurd to take an extra $8K off invoice, or the dealer would have jumped on your offer.

And what about the poor salesman? Your going to take a huge bite out of his commission because someone else tapped a car and caused a minor amount of damage, which was repaired and disclosed.

Don't you care about families having money to put food on the table? Or is that only your advice when it affects other peoples wallets?

Well obviously, I didn't take the obviously bad deal for a damage car. So everyone wins. I get to keep my money, dealer gets to hold onto a car nobody wants.
