Good price for 2012 Coupe
Good price for 2012 Coupe
Hi All-
I've been looking for a couple of weeks and this model seems to be the one I keep coming back to. I've run across a dealer selling a 2012 CPO with 11K miles, that is AWD, nav and premium package. It is very clean.
They are asking $30K for it and say they are pretty much priced at a no-haggle price, so I'm not expecting them to come down much, if any.
Is this a fair price?
Anything else to be mindful of? Extended warranty?
Thanks in advance....

Even with 11K miles, this seems high for a 3 year old G. How much are new ones - $37K - $43K? Does the warranty run out soon even with low miles? If you have to buy an extended warranty to get coverage that makes it even worse. Add that to the $30K, then consider.

Thanks for your thoughts....yes the warranty will run pretty soon...I didn't get the exact date on it as I don't know when it was originally sold, so it could be later this year....of course the sales guy said these don't have any problems on little stuff that would be covered under the 3yr/36 month warranty and the powertrain coverage is for a bit....
There's another option that is a 2013 with 15K miles that is not AWD and no nav (which I don't care about anyhow) that is $26K....I liked the AWD as I might be in Seattle and see a lot of rain and some snow, but maybe it's not all that important....hard to see that the AWD is worth $4k more....
thanks for your .02....
I suggest you check out Carmax if there is one in your area.
I just picked up a '13 G37s Sedan at Car max...dealers across the east coast were at 30,500 - 31,300 and not willing to budge...car max was at 27,000. Same options, similar miles, and the dealer's cars were not CPO either...

The factory warranty is 4yr/60,000mi bumper to bumper and 6yr/70,000mi powertrain, so you have a good amount of coverage remaining. The CPO gives you additional coverage up to 6yr/100,000mi. Coverage details in the attached link.

Sometimes if you hunt for the cheapest used car possible, you may bump into a problem, and possibly realize that the car was priced lower for a reason. I would rather spend a little extra and buy a car that is in excellent used condition. I'm not saying you can't find a great priced used car gem, but you definitely have to be a more vigilant buyer when searching for the cheapest used car available.
Great feedback, Ryne
Thanks for pointing out that quality has to be high on the consideration list and that price isn't everything.
One thing I do when considering a purchase is to go to Autotrader and/or cars.com and do a search within a certain distance (depending on the model and how far I have to go to get a good number of hits) for the exact model, make, and year of car I'm considering (I "may" indicate the transmission type - usually not). Using Autotrader this way, I see exactly what the competition is and what the range of ASKING prices is. Again you can't tell quality but at least it's a ballpark.
If anyone has any other techniques for assessing the "fairness" of an asking price, this thread might be a good place.
Good luck!
