Lease turn-in with different wheels?

So I made the mistake of not keeping the factory wheels when I got my aftermarket wheels bc I had every intention of buying out my lease at the time. Now I cant find anybody selling the 18" journey wheels that came with my car. I found a guy that is selling his 18" infiniti g37 coupe wheels, but they're a different style than the wheels that came on my car. Will the inspector notice or do u think I'll get by since they're still OEM Infiniti wheels?

Depends how informed and nit-picky the inspector is, should be OK since you haven't deviated from the OEM size and they are factory wheels. If I was a betting man I'd put my money in your favor
Might list a WTB (want to buy) thread in the classifieds first, might get lucky.

Never turn in a lease. It's your car, you own it. It has a value like any other car. Buy it and sell it or go to any dealer you want and get your new car and trade it in and let them call infinity to get the pay off, title, etc just like they would on any other car. After you buy wheels you'll be in the hole. If they dig you for stuff plus lease turn in fees etc etc you're still going to be in the hole. There's a possibility on trade in, the new dealer won't give you what you want but guess what? You're still going to be in the hole! Only difference is trading used for new gets you a tax break. If you lease turn in I don't think you get that. If you want a new 30k car and they give you 20k for yours, you're only going to pay tax on 10k. That's a free $1400 right there. I need more info about what you want but don't turn it in.

I would disagree with what you are saying. If his lease is up, turn the car in. No dealer is keeping Gs right now after lease. NO DEALER. The residual values are higher than the current value of the car. When OP leased his car Infiniti did not see them selfs dropping the MSRP of the Gs by $4000-$4800. That snowballed and affected preowned Gs and lease buy outs. Current buyouts are anywhere between $3500-$4500 more than what we can get the Exact car at auction.

We are letting Infiniti take them back then buying them off thier own acution sites because that is cheaper.

The beauty of the lease is that its Infinitis Problem now. If you had payments left on a car and wanted to get out early, I would recommend you roll them after you negotiate as many as you can over into a new lease. But have them cut back a check for said payments and drop the car off at Infiniti.

Now as for your wheels, the inspectors that come and do them here are 3rd party. Idk about your area. They look for wear and tear, scratches, cracks, damage etc. On the wheels, I have seen people trade there car in with other Infiniti Wheels and not a single bill. I would say as long as the wheel looks like an Infiniti wheel and has the Infiniti center caps, you should be good.

What wheels did you replace the OEM with?

I have a set of 18" S sedan duckfeet if you have anything decent to trade for them. If you are interested in them, what do you have?

In most cases any OEM wheels that fit will be fine, they very likely don't know which exact wheels came on which models.

This...You'll be fine. The inspector isn't going to care.

ONLY if you apply the 20K to the new car down payment.

In his case:

The lease contract has you paying tax on the cap reduction (down), and monthly payments.
If the payout for the lease is 20K, taxes are due on the 20K, so if he buys it, then trades it in, the the sales tax is a moot point

Thanks fellas. I picked up a set of 18" OEM wheels and tires. They have some scratches on them and some light curb rash on one wheel. The tires are decent. I'm going to put them on and hope for the best during the inspection.

From: Framingham Ma,
Agreed with elkjoker, Infiniti inflates the residuals really bad, My X coupe 2011 with under 30k miles and 3 years old was worth only 20k on trade in,. I turned it in and then saw it for sale in NY for 19,995. :/ Turn it in and go look for a used. I found a 1 owner 09- with less than 60k for under 16k.
