Please help! Need your advise ASAP!!!

Hi everyone,

Im looking to go purchase a 2010 G37x coupe.

I am supposed to pick the car up on saturday. All the wheels are in motion, and I love the car

However, when we pulled the carfax report, it shows an accident claim of $12,000. It was a front end collision

I took it to an Infiniti dealership for an inspection and they said everything was fine. Except that the steering wheel was slightly off center. the dealer has performed a wheel alignment

I see that the owner purchased the vehicle in April of 2010. and within 2 months this accident occured.

I am getting a decent deal on this car. Should I go ahead with it? Would you guys purchase a car that has been in an accident? Should I be seriously concerned?

When it comes time for me to sell this car in 4-5 years, will it be impossible?

Thank you so much....I dont know what to do

Don't buy it. Cars are never the same after front end collisions. In addition, it will be hard to sell when the time comes.

Don't guess. Pay a professional $100 to check it out with a fine tooth comb and tell you exactly what the situation is. We can't tell you. We haven't seen the car or inspected it. And even if we had, the vast majority of people on this forum wouldn't know what they were looking for.

Google "used vehicle inspection (your city)". Best of luck. If it were me, I wouldn't buy it unless I were a very good mechanic and it were dirt cheap.

2010 g37x. premium, nav and tech package. 28,000kms (17,500miles). full service history from infiniti......$28,000

Similar models with similar kilometers are going for 32,000 and up

Had it at an Infiniti dealership and they didnt notice anything wrong. Drives nice. Dealer will have alignment done before sale.

Will I be stuck with this car 5 years from now and not be able to sell it?

a $12,000 claim on a brand new vehicle done through insurance....the bill could add up very quickly no? it was possibly not such a major accident, and they just racked up the bill/?

You asked advice on whether you should buy it or pass, yet your responses seem to be rationalizing reasons why you should buy it in spite of people telling you not to. Why'd you ask?

Listen to Betty and get it independently inspected. Even if the report comes back clean I would still not buy it unless I was getting the car for +20% under the normal value. Why pay for a previously bent one when you could buy a perfectly straight one.

Don't ever buy a used vehicle that has been in an accident.

Op should price a new one

I might consider a car that's been in an accident if the inspection went well. But if the steering is off center, I would just walk away.

how much is the car going for? Just use reverse tactics on the dealer when you try to trade in a car that has been in a accident they low ball you like crazy. Now just tell them the car is worth 12k less then the asking price since it's been in a accident. But imo why buy a car that has 12k in repairs that sounds like a heavy front end damage...

^This.

$12k in front end damage is pretty significant and without knowing the details, who's to say the numbers don't belie the real story. It very well cold have been "cheapo" insurance company that refused to "total" the car and had it sent to "cheapo" shop to have it bondo'd back together.

For nearly the same money you can get a non "Frankencar", so why not go that route.
