question on certified preowned

Hi , Im looking to purchase an 2011 Infiniti that was sold back in 2012 as "certified preowned " to the previous owner. The guy traded in and now is for sale but I called infiniti and they said that is not transferrable.... is this right?

I read that it is transferrable to the new owner . Any info?

The original warranty is transferable, the extended portion of the warranty is not. I asked Infiniti the same question when I bought my certified 2010 G37 S vert.

The car has to meet certain requirements to qualify as a "CPO".
Infiniti "might" offer the car for sale as a "CPO" once they do their inspection and if it qualifies/meets their requirements to be a "CPO"
Things like, being under 60K miles, has the car been involved in an accident, etc.

From Infiniti website:
Infiniti Certified Pre-Owned vehicles combine true peace of mind with the exceptional experience of owning an Infiniti at a pre-owned value. Confidence is enhanced through our certified process, which begins with a vehicle that was crafted to Infiniti’s exacting standards, passed a rigorous 150+ point inspection and includes a factory-backed, 6 year/100,000 mile limited warranty.

Exclusive Membership
Infiniti maintains exclusive requirements for certified pre-owned vehicles and we encourage the smart consumer to compare our criteria to other luxury manufacturers. In order to be eligible for certification, pre-owned Infiniti vehicles must meet the following criteria;

Under 60,000 miles on the odometer
Less than four years from the original in-service date
Clean title history and CARFAX Vehicle History Report
