Mileage vs years

Found 2 G37x's sedan w/nav and premium pkg

price for both 27.5K

2011 25K miles vs
2012 33K miles

2012 was titled in Jan 12 so it's miles were accumulated in 13 months
2011 titled Jan 11 so it has 24-25 months.

pros and cons? Should I assume 33K miles in a year is a problem?

If it comes down to color, pick the one you like most. Otherwise, I'd go with the 2011 and try to get a lower price.

Low miles are a LOT more important that the age of the car. Go with the 2011.

As a counter point, what if that low mile vehicle has had minimal/no maintenance, while the higher mileage (and not by that much) has had everything done and then some.

See if you can get some maintenance records on both of these.

Hmm...

Problem is CARFAX for both doesn't show service records. Going there Fri so will try to worm info from dealer.

The 2012 is black and I like that better but maybe lower miles in grey 2011 better option.

I plan on checking out dipstick to make sure oil isn't black. Any other way to judge maintenance?

Maybe I'll get lucky and the dealer didn't change oil so there may be a last change sticker on window.

I just purchased a 2010 with 93,000 k. Personally, I would rather see a high mileage car in a short time with regular maintenance. Over 30k miles a year suggests a lot of highway travel. I was able to secure dealer records demonstrating all suggested maintenance and oil changes over that time. TBH, I don't really think the difference in miles in your situation is very much other than it is good bet the 2012 was a lot of highway miles. Depending on when and if you sell it, higher mileage can matter.

Oh, and check the air filters to see if they are dirty. 2 snaps and 5 seconds later...

Lots of bugs could also indicate highway miles, just dirt and it means they just weren't changed. Clean and they may just have been replaced indicating recent service.

The 8,000 miles is negligible. As Chemsol said, the 33k in one year suggests they were highway miles. If they're both in good condition, buy the one you prefer, or go for the better deal.

I think it all comes down to the condition of the car. I've seen cars with less mileage in terrible condition. You need to check them out and drive them both to make an educated decision.

Time to time servicing also effects the age of your vehicles. Not only the mileage can increase vehicle's life. It is up to us how we use our vehicles.

I'm in the same boat...looking at a 2012 with 34k miles. They were accumulated over 15 months. Dealership says highway miles are better than city miles.

In terms of importance in my opinion:
Maintenance > Mileage > Age

If both have been equally maintained, I'd personally go with the lower mileage one.
