Fair Deal? Can I get more out of it?
Fair Deal? Can I get more out of it?
So I decided to go upgrade to a 2012 G37xs from a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder. I went down to the dealer today, and took the test drive. Wow. I have to buy this car no matter what. The dealer had 2012 G37XS in Obsidian black in stock with 15miles on odo, 10 of which I put. After telling him that I have already test driven the 2013 BMW 3series, the SR went to his manager got me the following response:
MSRP; $46,280
Discount: -$5,356
Final Price: 40,924 with 1.9% 60 month loan.
This is for a G37XS with Premium,Navigation,Rear Spoiler, Black Grill, Carpeted Trunk, Trunk Net.
Now I hadn't named a price I wanted yet. I wanted to know if this was already a good deal or how much more can I get away with?
Please let me know because I plan on closing the deal soon.

This is a coupe or sedan? From the pricing, it sounds like a sedan.
According to truecar.com, that's a pretty decent price. Falls midway between the lower and average price paid (in their 'great' category).
You might be able to work in a few more hundred off. Get some dealers to compete against one another.
Also, bear in mind, a 4dr XS is drastically different from a 2dr XS in terms of what the sport package adds (or doesn't as in the case of the 4dr).
Do your research to make sure you are ok with this.

It is a sedan. I have done the research for the last 2 months lol. I actually wanted Moonlight White, but dealer can only offer black, silver or red. I can't make up my mind between Red or Black.
Ask them to pay for your first oil change, take the deal and be psyched. Or go back and grind the guy for two hours to get another $200 off the deal. How much is your time worth?
The answer to your question is you can almost always get a little more $ out of a deal. If you squeeze another $200 from the deal, you'll be saving a whopping $3.33/month.

Colors are such a personal thing. I don't care much for the black. It's awesome looking when clean/waxxed, but way too much upkeep to keep it looking good. White, while it looks nice, it also requires upkeep.
I chose platinum graphite color (KAD), which is their gun metal. It's a bit darker than regular silver, but still hides the dirt well.
I had a red car before, and didn't want something that attracted so much attention. If colors are important to you, see about them locating one in a color of your choice.
Being an XS sedan, they should be plentiful and all over. Might also help you with pricing.
Use a site like cars.com or autotrader.com to see who has what in the color of your choice in your area.
