About to pull the trigger on a 09 Coupe X...

Hey guys,

I just talked to my dealer (among many others outside OH) and he said he can get me a G37 Coupe awd red w/ prem, nav, kick plates and cargo if I preorder it now. The car should be on their lot around mid December.
He agreed on the VPP price.
My question for you is what is considered a good Doc fee? They have $250..I know ideally is ZERO, but you guys were able to eliminate that totally?

Thanks,
-A

$250 sounds decent to me. I think that is what I paid. Don't worry too much about the 250 doc fee, focus on the extra accessories that they will try to sell you. My dealership tried to get me to buy a tire and wheel warranty for like $500. And it didnt even cover if you scratched your wheels! That was bogus. Just try to get things free with it, like extra add-on accessories.

Thanks for your reply. In my case they didn't add anything else, everything just straight through. Their VPP matches my VPP calculations.
Free things? Hmm that is a good idea...Could you please give me same examples of things I could push to get free acces etc..You are more familiar with the car...

Thanks,

spoiler, wheel locks, clear bra, kickplates, splashguards, pinstripping, carpeted trunk mat, cargo net, vehicle alarm impact sensor.

I would suggest the easiest would be the wheel locks, cargo net, pinstripping and VAIS, definitely try for the clear bra if you really want it.

I'd put more thought into this package. If you're getting the non-sport 18" wheels, then it's probably not worth it. But if you're getting the Sport package, then you're getting 19" wheels with low-profile tires. The wheel/tire combo is a staggering $1,800 to replace if you hit a pothole or a curb and bend your rim!!

If you live in state with fairly decent roads, then $500 for wheel protection is completely unnecessary. However, if you live in Michigan, where car-sized potholes show up every 100 ft, then $500 starts sounding like more of a bargain.

Personally, I bought the wheel/tire protection, and haven't regretted it one bit. I picked up a nail a few months after I bought my G37, and the protection package completely payed for the repair. And every time I drive to Michigan, it certainly provides me piece of mind as I bottom out at 75mpg on their unavoidable expressway potholes.

Andrew, I too got a screw in my tire about a month after I bought my car, but it was only $45 to repair. It has been 13 months since and no problems. Also, the tire and wheel protection does not replace your rim if you hit a pothole. Your insurance will cover that. The only thing it actually covers would be if there was a mechanical malfunction with your rim (not likely), and if you got a hole in your tire, not including sidewall damage. And your tires have to have so much tread on them. Read up on it. Ask questions.

Andromeda, Pinstripping the the thin long pinstripe graphic that that runs the length of the car with a tiny infiniti symbol. It cost $95 for us to get done at the dealership but for them it on costs about $10 for the material and about 30min labor.

Yes, all are genuine infiniti accessories with the exception of the clear bra. It is a local supplier that has the Infiniti pattern. Since you are getting the self healing paint, I am not sure how much you will need it. I bought my car before anyone had the pattern for the clear bra.

Do you know how much is the VAIS? Is that any good? I'd really like to get the proximity thing..From this forum it sounds like it's easy to break into the car...

$130. It is not a proximity thing but a sensor that monitors the vibrations of the vehicle. It is easy because theives know how to pick a lock. I did a keyhole delete on mine to prevent break-ins but I don't live in Jersey either. It just stinks if your battery dies because then you have to call Roadside Assistance.

I think the proximity thing was something else aftermarket.

I don't believe that the Sport package is available on the G37X.

Thank you! You have been very helpful. I will ask to get some free oil changes, the sensor and splash guards and maybe touchup paint for free...

Do you know how much are the splash guards? I can't believe it doesn't come with that (for a > 40k car)...Is that something you need?

Thanks,
A

Ok maybe I can ask both here...How does it feel driving in the snow w/o awd?? That is the main reason for me to get a 09 x...
This car will be an ALL season car for me, not just summer.

Thanks,
