buying in san diego. is this a deal?

hows it goin everyone? i recently got a car loan from navy fed for 40k. when i was approved for the loan, they told me someone would call that would find the car i wanted. surprisingly, they called today and found the a car with all the features i requested and is on its way to mission viejo as i type this. here is what i requested:

black obsidian, premium, sport, navi, rear spoiler, AT. the OTD price i was told was $43,870.75....is this a good price? or should i go to other dealers and start negotiating still? the car will be available within 3 days. i just need to fax a copy of my drivers license and insurance card to put the car on reservation....any suggestions on what to do? thanks in advance!

No, This is not a that good of a deal. The cars with the same options you are asking for can be sold for less than 40k. It's then end of the 08 season so dealers are trying to get rid of these cars. many dealers are selling them for about 37-40k OTD. The OTD price they gave you is about $1,000 off the MSRP price. I would negotiate way lower than that.

I guess times have changed but my OTD price was about $800 more with the same features minus the spoiler. The starting price was $500 below invoice. Since its close to the end of the year i guess you could try for a better deal.

^ No, your calculation is wrong. The deal he is getting is close to invoice!

MSRP for that car should be around 44K + fees +8% tax.

Not a bad deal at all.

Don't rely 100% on what people tell you here! Go to Edmunds.com and get the exact price for the exact car (including packages) you are getting. You should be getting somewhere around the invoice (even below).

Good luck

a better price is possible but you live in SD, I don't know how they work down there but I know in NJ they are offering 39k OTD since I walked out and never went back so they called me 4 weeks after I got my car from another dealer. wish they called sooner..

Nice, after reviewing the info. I would go with the deal after all since it's pretty much about invoice with everything you wanted. good choice!
