About to lease in NJ

Hey everything, I'm new here on the forum and I've been reading up on information about leasing a G37. I'm considering leasing this car because I'm planning to either buy it out 3 yrs from now or trade it in for an FX in the future. Anyways...I went to Ray Catena in Edison today and I they gave me a quote of a G37 Journey w/ Premium and Navigation for $399/mo for 39 months with $6,300 down including tax, first month, dmv, docs. This quote was for a lease.

My question is: Is this a good deal? What else should I find out about? What suggestions can you provide to help lower the cost for me?

I'm trying to figure out what option is better because I also went to Open Road BMW and got a quote for a 328i Coupe w/ Nav for $400/mo with a $5k down.

I'm looking to get one of the two cars this Saturday July 5th. Any information would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

Sorry, fixed initial post. Is it possible to lower my downpayment and keep the same monthly cost? Also, another question about these Infiniti cars... it'll be my first Infiniti, but my 2nd Nissan since I had the Z. What's the maintenance cost of this vehicle like? BMW's no-cost maintenance is very appealing.

for one reason... never put $6,300 down on a lease

but just doing basic math real quick in my head.. thats really a $560-$590/month payment.

first, your lease deal for the infiniti is too high, second your lease of the bmw is way too low...

my father is in the car business and set me up with his buddy as i was looking at the 335i 328i and g37...

the 335i is astromically high...750 a month

the 328i, with just navi is 620 a month with just fees out of pocket, that is the bottom line number, with the car 500 bux over dealer cost, with 12k miles a year, for 39 months..
-with 5k outta pocket, that would make the lease 545 a month your quote of 399?

the g37, which i happened to have just leased from the same dealership you are dealing with 2 weeks ago, gave me 24 months, 15k, 43,000$ car, leased for right around 39k, 542 a month, just fees out of pocket, $1650ish

if you are getting what you claim, a journey with navi and premium, thats a 42k car, lets say you get it for 39,000, THAT LEASE IS 340 A MONTH WITH 6300 OUT OF POCKET ON A 36 MONTH LEASE WITH 12K!!
aka they are making close to 3 grand on your deal...

they didnt play games with me either so maybe you are reading things wrong or remembering things wrong or maybe you are just severely being taken advantage of...

Why is it best to lease with $0 down? I know that your trying to SPEND the least amount of money... but the monthly payments are $500+ with $0 down and inception on the G37... is that ok to pay?

As for raZr....the BMW 328i coupe with navi was $453/month for 36 months with $5K down without using BMW loyalty, but $50 off with the loyalty used...just fees its $510/month..... and the 328i sedan was $389/mo for 36 months w/ $5K down. With 0 down just fees, its $450/mo.

Here's my situation... I have $7K at my disposal and after test driving these two cars... i definitely want one of them. I don't know which is the best for me, but the G37 has more power and more goodies than the 328i coupe. But the BMW felt more solid than the G. The above post was my two offers and the monthly payments seem good, but i have more i have to figure out to see if its really a worthy lease to get into.

the reason why you shouldnt be putting (that much) money down... is that if you total the car - you loose that money.
the total lease cost is the same either way... it's not like when you finance.. and you are financing less -- you save on interest. it doesn't work that way.

put the money in ING or something like... and you are better off.

put the money in a 1 year cd at your local bank and in a year you will have a free monthly payment with your interest...or you can get more aggressive and try to earn a little more

and as far as your bmw quote, im sorry but it just doesnt make sense..

i have 3 bmws, 2 of which are leased thru bmw finance, and i got hooked up with a friend in the business..hence i am getting the rebates and loyalty, and bottom dollar..but that is all besides the point...

i was looking at a 328i coupe and its impossible that you had a quote on the table for 510 a month with no money down, the 328i with navi is more expensive than the G with navi, by a good amount, and the residuals are worse for the bmw...

last time i checked the residual for the infiniti you are looking at is 63% on a journey coupe with navi (65% for the base coupe with navi) for 36 months, and the 328i coupe was 57% for 36 months...

and oh yeah...the money factor is .00192 for the 36 months with g37, the money factor for the beamer is .0025....

..you do the math
