^^^ yeah I talked to the dealer and they said it is going to be a 2000 fee because of all the different options I am getting. I drove the 6MT, to be COMPLETELY honest, the only key difference would be the quickness off the line, thats about it. Don't get me wrong I love the 6MT but for the fee, I don't love it that much lol.
perfect shifts every time, a 5AT will be more consistant than you in a 6MT. and when you get into big power it's a must....... why do you think high powered sports cars all swap to auto, try shifting perfectly with 600+ hp.
That may be right cuz thats why im driving a G37 - which is is not a 600+ HP car so therefore i will stick w/ the MT. Im not bashing the AT, just prefer my MT.
helps alot on turns and in the canyons...took my first rwd car the G into the canyons and the paddle shifters helped alot and i actually kept up with solo in the turns and Shane after a couple of minutes getting used to it....
Ry... Yes maybe an F1 gear box would be better than MT... But the stock G tranny isnt exactly a super quick gear box... You would need to spend loads of money to get a good auto gear box and once you get used to shifting and work on everything manual will be a win at the end of the day... UNLESS you go with some super crazy gear box... Plus MT is WAY more fun
^^ a high powered car is just an example when they convert to auto with high power. I can make the same example even with the power we have, lets be real I drive a 6MT, are you going to tell me you never stalled? never missed a gear and rev'd too high on take off, or never shifted gears at a RPM too high or too low to get mass power?
If you say no your lying. All i'm saying is a 5AT will not have this problem rather its a 100hp KIA, or a 1,000 hp muscle car. Line up against a 5AT, do best out of 5, I bet you make a "human" error before the 5AT does.
And yes the 6MT is more fun to drive that's why I bought one, unless your sitting in L.A. traffic, or on a hill with some idiot 4 inches behind you.
But my AUTO cayanne turbo s takes care of that. The G is not my daily driver.

It's not just about speed of shifts, it's about driveline losses. Since the G37 automatic has a torque converter, there are higher driveline losses - meaning the amount of power that gets transferred to the wheels is reduced vs. a manual. In a wide variety of cases, manual transmission cars have higher HP & torque numbers at the wheels.
The high horsepower cars being mentioned don't have automatics, they're some variation of SMG... meaning they're manual transmissions controlled by a computer (BMW's SMG, Ferrari's F1 system, etc).
G37's auto, BMW's steptronic, Audi/Porsche's tiptronic, etc etc are really automatic transmissions with the ability to manually control them.
The auto tranny in the G37 is nice, but definitely not one of the quicker shifting slushboxes. The units in AMG Mercedes models are VERY VERY quick.

I understand what your saying... But MT is way more fun and stock for stock can usually hold more power... Look at ryan woons supra.. he is a 6mt and runs GREAT times... Am i saying iv never missed a gear or anything? no of course not... But in my opinion MT is better unless you are putting in a insanely crazy auto... or a sequential gear box...

Yea and to me is well worth it... plus over time you will master driving your car... Sure maybe once in a while youl slip up but to me thats worth it for having a MT... Plus i give WAY more credit to any MT driver or a manual... anyone can go out there and put there foot to the floor.. launching and shifting is another story...
