Tell them you want to put multiple security deposits...That way you should lower your payments and get most of if not all of the deposit back...Your payment will probably be in the high 400's but its better then literally handing the dealership 4k upfront for something that will never be yours...

I live in Cincinnati, OH. I went to Infiniti of Cincinnati and they offered me a 6MT with Premium PKG. for 289 a month for a 39 month lease/15K miles. The catch is that I have to pay up 5K @ delivery including fees and taxes.

What residual did u have at lease end? $289 would be nice. Everything I've seen is like 4k down for all fees, 1st pment etc and $400/mth.

See, that's the thing. I'm heading back to the dealer on Friday to see what I can get them to do. I've been talking to the dealers in Cbus, Cinci and Dayton. I'm loving the black on black journey with the premium and sport pkg. I don't want to drop a big chunk down and want to keep it at $400 or less.
This is what Kirby Campbell at Cinci emailed me:
SPORT PACKAGE
Premium Pkg
39/12K
MSRP 40965
Cap Cost 37958
Residual 60% 24579
Cash Due 4877.65
Monthly 400

39/15K
Residual 59% 24169.35
Cash Due 5252.29
Monthly 399.98

Hmmmm.....Well now.
Have you thought about doing multiple security deposits? I've been looking into it, might be worth it if my payment comes down enough...

Guys with MSD's at the same value of what your talking about putting as a down payment I would certainly suggest it over a huge down payment...To give you an example...I've been offered the following...Compare it to your quotes...It wont get you below $400 per month but its not bad either...

6MT, Nav, Premium, Splash Guards, Spoiler, Trunk Mat, and some other dumb things for a MSRP of $43,145

With $4700 in MSD's a total of 6k when including the inception fee's I'm looking at a payment of $449 or less...I just had my original dealer leave me a VM saying he can BEAT the price of $449 so we'll see what he says...We can assume that since your MSRP is over 2k less then mine that you'll likely be at about $425 per month...Take $425- $400 you've been offered and you pay $25 more for 39 months a total of $1,131. So you SAVE around 3k-4k total from that original down payment you were going to put down since you get the security deposits back at lease end...

Thanks man. I'm torn, cause I'd hate to tie up $4k for 39 mths as opposed to throwing it in a high yield savings account and putting that with my scheduled payment each month (higher monthly payment but less $$ down).

I've also always bought my cars and leasing is kinda new to me. I know if I bought it (for 2.9% @60 mths) I would be trading it in anyway at the end of 60 mths, which defeats the point of buying...39 months is perfect for me to just about get tired of it and get the new hotness, lol!

I'm leasing for two reasons...One, I bought an 04 G35 coupe...I put 13k down and financed...I'm 1 year from the end of my term and I'm selling the car cause I want something new...I was going to put twin turbos on her (and still might) but I dont have the funds to fix any unexpected damages...After 48 months of payments I owe 6k and can sell my car to private party for 19k...Whats that leave me with? 13k, my original down payment...Because the economy is pathetic no buyers will shell our anything more...And I end up back where I started...Almostly exactly the same scenario as what would happen if I lease with multiple security deposits...Ill get my deposits back, kind of like my down payment back...However, I can get rid of the car after 39 months and KNOW i'm getting something new...

I understand your problem with wanting to put that 4k into savings and build up some interest...But everything is so weak right now in the economy and may continue to be weak for some time to come...Dont forget that the 4500 in MSD's is returning you something in the sense that its saving you a great deal off of each monthly payment...Before MSD's my monthly was $543 with inceptions down only...With the MSD's its $449 or lower...Thats $100 a month I'm saving for 39 months..So $3,900...So in a way I am seeing a return on my security deposits...And obviously i get those back as well...Gluck

Dude, that makes sense. Ok, I think that's gonna be my route!
Sent out requests to the 3 dealers I'm working with, waiting for responses from 2, but so far, if I did 1st pment down and tax at I of columbus, I'd be looking at $638 down and $563/mth. If I do the MSD's I'm looking at a pment of $500/mth and getting the $4900 back at end of term. Almost a wash...

Cool gluck...But I really think they should be able to get you a much better price then $500 per month...Especially since my MSRP is above 43k and I'm getting it for $449 "WORST CASE"...I played the email game from start to finish...Visisted the first dealer then took his quote, sent it to another via email...Took that better quote, send it to a 3rd dealership...The original dealer then contacted me and I thanked them for they're time but told them they were out done by another dealership but I'd be more then happy to provide them the numbers...I did so, and he's since called me and said to call in as he'll beat it!!! My total including MSD's and inceptions is 6k...But I've gone from a $543 payment to below $449...I think you'll be surprised with what they say...And be sure to push that quote on to the next dealership...But even at $500 per month not bad for a 40k car...Gluck again

Ok so Inf of Dayton comes back with a G37 Journey with prem pkg for $4142 down (includes 1st pment) and a monthly of $440/mth with $3k back at end of term.

If I went for premium and sport pkgs, it'd add about $40, so $480/mth.
