Milage of the Lot
Milage of the Lot
Hey guy what do you think about buying a new car that has a lot of miles on it still being called new? By high I mean 500. According to some people thats a demo, to others its just transpertation. I suspect that some of these sales guys drive around the new cars for a month and still sell as new.
Its easy to check delivery on a car, so assuming it was not driven up as some kind of dealer trade, would that much milage be acceptable as new?

Nope that is not good. You can buy a G for invoice with under 20miles. This car they are trying to sell you might not be the demo car but it was definitely driven and most likely by a sales person or a family member of a manager. You can verify how many miles they put on it by checking the glove compartment. There is a certificate in there by the test driver of the car with the number of miles he/she put on it. Anything over this the dealer did and I would see another dealer for trying to BS you like that.
well I cant figure out if this was some beater or if they just let someone drive it a while. The ironic part is, I was talking two other dealers in the city looking for a specific color with specific features and both wanted me to put money down to have it shipped to them as a dealer trade. I am pretty sure it was the same car because one of them called me in a panic the day after I said I wanted this car and he was told some else purchased it. So I think I would have gotten the shaft and paid for trade.
I asked my dealer this same question... he said as long as it is not titled it is considered NEW... I dunno if i believe that tho....
I turned a closer, cheaper Athens blue down because it had 400 miles on it and the dealer said it was the first and only 6mt and it had been tested ALOT... I said Hell no... gimme the one with 10 miles on it

500 is too much! However if you can get 2500 below invoice then I would that's a fair deal. Think of it this way, the car has 4 years 60000 miles warranty (not considering the tranny and engine warranty), plus you are getting a great deal, now what's the chance of finding major issues with this car?
That's the question you should think about!
Good luck!
