14 Q60 AWD Sport Boosted Build

Just picked up a 14 Q60 AWD Sport in red with 38,xxx miles. It is an automatic eventually will swap to vr30 auto.

I had a 17 Q50 with FBO, WMI, Flex fuel, full custom cooling, full aero, full suspension etc... in the process of being fully built. Got totaled from another driver who was 100% at fault.

My first real build was a 17 Toyota 86. Supercharged, water intercooled, FBO, WMI, Flex Fuel, full aero, full suspension, BBK, full custom cooling, the works. $30k+ in parts. I did all the labor. Unfortunately parted with it for the Q50 build that ended abruptly.

Which leads me to the 14 Q60 (really g37). This has been a dream bucket list car for a while and decided to do it.

I already dropped $13k in parts before even taking delivery. Pretty much everything on back order right now. One of which is the new ace supercharger kit. Still have at least $2k in fueling mods to go. Got a curveball yesterday when I found out my Q50 18x9 wheels didn’t fit the akebono bbk on my Q60. so $2.1k OTD for a new 19x9.5 w/ 255 setup. There goes my fueling budget for now.

Moving to a new house beginning of July and am working on getting a lift for my dream garage setup.

This is hopefully just the beginning.

Got oil cooler and trans cooler installed.
both have thermostat fluid control valves they also both have dedicated fans hooked up to a thermostat power switch to turn fans on once warmed up. Helps warm up quicker and keep cool once warm. Once
boosted it’ll probably offer some decent flow in comparison to front end air flow blocked by FMIC.

Everything Buttoned UP Nice in the end

Hood Latches Are a Requirement on the G37/Q60s

Behind IC Clearance to Coolers/ Fans

Behind IC Clearance to Coolers/ Fans, Everything worked out well together lots of space.

BOV Silencer with Filter, and SC Intake Filter relocation, Bumper fits with no modification to grille.

Inside of Silencer, I removed 1 of the 2 pieces of foam after pic, about 3" long, 1" ID 2.75" OD pre filter for aquariums.

1.5" to 2" coupler, 2" to 2.5" elbow, 2" to 2.5" elbow, 2" ID Pipe with cap, 100 1/4" holes - 30 with no inner foam filter and 70 with. roughly half the air comes out the non filter, and half comes out the filter side, makes it almost dead silent.

Flapper valve, Thermo Tec Cooling, fuel filter, flex fuel setup.

Boost a Pump Boost Activated Switch

MAC Valve Solenoid, BAP Boost Activation Switch, Fuel regulator, and Fuel pressure transducer sensor.

Wow..how did I miss this one

Really nice build! Love seeing this vs. the trash on Reddit. If I see one more stock-ish, ricer'd out G with filter galore....

Just one bit of advice...replace the worm clamps with either crimp clamps (for smaller fittings) and T- bolt clamps. It was something I used to kind of say "yea, yea" about until I blew off two two fittings, different locations, during my test pulls (different platform). Not crazy boost either - only 11 pds.

I take it the silencer it to quiet the extra pressure created at idle and part throttle right?
Genius invention!

Overall very well built with interesting tricks built in as well!

Pretty much,
The blower puts out a ton of air even at idle, it can make something like 3psi at idle if it wasn't bleeding off boost and around like 10psi at 3.5k rpm.
As you probably know, a traditional BOV bleeds off the excess boost but the wastegate controls the "created" pressure so the BOV is a quick one time dump post throttle cut with wastegate regulating pressure.

Using the BOV in this application to actually control the SC boost turns it into a constant bleed off, sounds like an industrial fan or something at idle, and casually coasting/cruising at 3k RPM especially at slower speeds (1st-3rd) (less road noise, wind noise etc... to cove up at slower speed) sounds like a jet taking off and not just a temporary dump like traditionally but a permanent bleed off. For me its kind of loud and annoying.

The "silencer" I created dramatically lowers that noise and based on surface area of a 1.5" hole (BOV outlet) should equal 30 - 0.25" holes. That is why I have 30 - 0.25" holes that are not covered by that foam insert, and then an additional 70 - 0.25" holes covered by the foam insert. This should prevent the silencer from being any sort of restriction to the BOV while still providing a good amount of silencing functionality.

The other benefit to the "silencer" is where it redirects the bleed off to prevent additional heat soaking to the IC, Rad, Oil cooler or blowing hotter air into the intake filter.

90 degree bend 3.5” aluminum pipe
And whatever filter comes with the kit.
cant recall part number on top of head but,
IIRC dimensions are 3.5” inner flange ID, 6” filter base OD, 4.75” filter top OD, 9” filter length, 10.75” total length.

Finally got around to swapping front driver axle, real PITA on AWDs. Had a tiny little crack slowly flinging grease.

Also decided to swap to ISR longtube headers while I was at it. Put in some new NGk upstream 02s as well.

swapped to NGK GTR spark plugs per tuners recommendation.

Decided to stop being lazy and port my stock manifold, have everything to do it was just lazy when I got the VQboys ported upper/lower. But now i can sell to recoup some cost.

also did a TB coolant delete to clean up all the hoses on the back/passenger side and possibly prepare for another mod in the works.

made a grounding kit for sh*ts and giggles.

decided to make some custom flat underpanels pictured in previous post. Helps protect all the fueling and the relocated 02 sensors/clips from the ISR longtubes. Probably some aero functionality as well. Will probably eventually tie it all in to the rear diffuser at some point.
