Hello Ya'll, my name is Andrew or some people call me Drew. I have been a proud G owner for about 9 months now and I could not be happier with the car. Like every car it has its problems that come with having 175,000 on the dash. I bought it from someone that I work with, it was his wives daily driver. The exterior was in really good shape, it had some minor issues. she backed into something and it has a dent in the rear bumper. And she ran something over so the bottom of the sport lip has a crack that's not really noticeable unless you know its there. The interior is where most of the problems are/were and I have corrected several of them already and are working on the rest. The interior was pretty much identical to Bull's G37 Anniversary Edition like to the point that when I was looking at his build thread I seriously thought it was my car. But with so many of these G's being parted out there are so many parts out there that its pretty easy to get the things needed to bring her back to her original form.
I am starting this thread after I have been already working on the car for several months. There are so many different things that I've done that I will have to post pics and update the thread when I have available time. But I at least wanted to get one started so I can share with the wonderful MyG37 community all the things ive done so far and all that I have learned from you all. One last thing, I wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone that shares there knowledge of the G37 on this site. Without you I would still be trying to figure out how to fix some of the **** I messed up while trying to work on the car (like how to remove door panel, wire a sub and speaker to the factory head unit, how to change brake pads, removing interior trim pieces) that's just a few. I'm telling you there is so much knowledge on here I truly believe that if you cant find what you need here then you just wont find it. Here are some pictures I took after the first week of ownership. I am also going to include some pics of the interior prior to replacing some things.
Pictures are how the car looked the day I got it except I did a headlight restoration myself. They were pretty bad.
I’m out of time today and pretty sure your tired of hearing me rant so that’s it for this post. I will be back to start explaining some of the updates/upgrades that have been done so far. Thank you for reading and hope you enjoyed.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I MESSED UP WITH SOMETHING IN THE POST. I’m okay with constructive criticism, I’m new to this car stuff. This is the first car that I have ever took the time to do the work myself. I’m a quick learner, I can do almost anything after I do some research or if someone shows me how to, and I am a perfectionist when I do things like this. I have 5 children at home so this is kinda my way to stay sane and be in my space.

The car looks sharp with all the little extras that come with the AE package. The interior definitely needs work but I don't see anything that would be impossible to do. What are your plans with the dash?
The steering wheel looks like it just needs a new cover. A lot of people used this cover, it's DIY and looks clean when complete:
That’s actually one of the most recent mods that I completed. It started with a cover I bought about 5 months ago and just got around to putting on the steering wheel. I had it on the car for 1 week and I was actually pretty happy considering this was my first time doing the sewn on thing. And then I happened to stumble across a carbon fiber steering wheel on the Offerup app that was being sold at a price I could not pass up (just like a couple other mods that I will tell y’all about in due time). The wife still does not know about the wheel, she is too occupied from the exhaust I just purchased. So after a few days of waiting by the street for mail man, “like a fat kid waiting on his first piece of cake ,” it was here! I installed it and I could not be happier. It’s not one that has been modified big time to give that really sporty look that go for $600 everywhere that I have seen. Don’t get me wrong I like them but don’t like the price tag. This one was being sold for $360 plus tax and shipping. I threw an offer of $320 and after taxes and shipping total paid was $362 and I feel like I got a crazy good deal (please tell me if I’m wrong). It’s more like the OEM should have been from the factory for the price these cars go for.
So now I’m actually selling the wheel that I spent about 6 hours doing. My kids were doing school in the kitchen next to me while I was sewing so I had a few distractions. But overall it came out pretty good. It’s sitting in a box in the closet and I have no need for it so I’m selling it. The other thing I did was clean up the trim piece that had paint scratches all over it. I could not stand that, I just wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do with it (vinyl wrap, or get all the paint off and bring it down to the original black that it was before they tried to paint it 2 different colors). It had Black paint on the top layer, Grey underneath that was used as a prime, and the actual color was black that was under the grey. I used some 91% alcohol and rubbed the paint completely off. If I didn’t like the way it looked I could always vinyl wrap it like I did some other pieces in the car. The new steering wheel that I purchased also came with a brand new trim bezel so I have no need to wrap.
Note that every mod that I’m doing to the car are bolt on so that I can remove if needed if I ever decide to sell the car and I can resell to get some of my money back. The steering wheel is actually the only OEM part that I plan on selling because I can always find a cheap steering wheel at any time online or at PullAPart if I ever decide to sell the car. So be on the lookout on the personal add page for a wrapped wheel if any of you are in the market.
Before
This is the wheel before I wrapped it, it also had the trim piece that looked horrible that I cleaned up. With the new wrap and cleaned up trim bezel. New Carbon Fiber wheel
let me know what you think please. I’m always open to suggestions from the G experts that are on here. I’ve seen some of y’all’s cars on Facebook and I hope one day mine could be at that level, but for now it’s one piece at a time trying to keep myself occupied while the kids are doing virtual learning in the living room COVID SUCKS.
And as for the dash, I’m on the hunt for a part out that’s 2012 or newer. I don’t remember exactly but I think I remember someone saying that 2012 or 2013 they fixed whatever the problem was with the crack/melting Dash. Either way I’m constantly looking for a part out, and that’s usually the first question I ask is what condition is the dashboard in. Hoping I’ll find one close enough to home and I can go pull it out myself. Another option is I found some leather vinyl with adhesive backing I thought I might try if push comes to shove. But I would rather keep the OEM – without modification. I guess only time will tell.
Hope you enjoy

The guy at work that I bought the car from had them installed. They are also wired to play from the head unit screen. He also had wired a bypass button that allows me to input address in Nav while driving.
I’m actually looking to get one of the tv’s replaced because it does not work anymore. I can tell their daughter wore that thing out.
One good thing though, when I bought the car he gave me the original headrest if I ever need to put them back on. The bad thing, they look fresh with the monoco red and the seats have some fade. I guess we will see what I end up doing. My OCD gets a little crazy sometimes and I may end up trying to brighten the seats up with a fresh stain.

Great intro thread! Anniversary G's are sharp with all the exterior goodies, but you definitely have your work cut out for you in the interior- but looks to be a fun project! While I don't have an Anniversary, I've sort have turned it into one if you'd like to check out additional mod ideas. Good luck!

Man, you’ve got that thing looking sharp. I love those DRL’s but I can only find them around the $600 range. There is no way I’m paying that for some lights unless it’s my headlights. Right now I am painting my sport lower grill and once I see how it comes out I’ll be doing the black plastic around the fogs. I have to remove the sport lip to get them off though so I will be fixing up any defects in the lip and I will go ahead and figure out what DRL set up I want next to my fog lights.
I did see a DIY on DRL‘s on the forum that look pretty promising, I guess we’ll see in time. That’s another task that I’ll be posting on here once completed.
But you are doing really good job on your car, It looks really sharp. It actually looks pretty close to what I hope mine will look in the end. Hopefully one day I’ll get to that point. I really love those JDM tail lights you got being built. That’s definitely a mod on my list, it’s just far down the list. Got so many other things to tackle before I can get tail lights done. But kudos to you and looking forward to seeing more progress. Don’t be mad if I borrow a few ideas from your thread, that’s a good looking car.

Bad *** wheel. if it wasnt for previous experience of driving wood types or resin coated fiberglass aftermarket wheels I would have gone forward with one. Make sure you moisturize your palms and they'll hurt less.

Appreciate the kind words! Yeah I do love those DRLs- but they are outrageously expensive from the dealer. I got lucky and only ended up paying $300 from someone selling a brand new set on Facebook since they sold their G. Still high for what they are, but it's hard to complain with OEM fitment and quality. There's some DIY ones out there, but my OCD for OEM accessories kicked in. It's been a four year journey for my ride, so take your time and enjoy the process!
