^ That's a whole lot of torque for 480whp! Have you monitored your fuel pressure up top? I can't imagine that you are running out of pump..
I think a general rule of thumb is keeping under 500wtq will help the longevity of the stock block. But, as always, every motor is different!
I'll have them check the fuel pressure since it has the mini fp gauge with the CJ return system. I would be baffled if it was a fueling issue with the 340 pump and S1 return system. Even more so since I have the 350Z pump module. I am just hoping he is mixing the torque and hp. There aren't any cars between the two forums that are making more torque than power. If it is the case that it is really running that much torque I may have to back off to waste gate pressure. I'll try to get a chart, but he is on vacation until Monday.
Come to think of it, I think I remember my tuner saying he tunes timing on a wave where it backs down timing as boost builds so that you don't get a lot of advanced timing as the engine is loaded on boost. I wonder if the timing at the top end is being kept low, hence the comparably low HP for the given torque. I will have to ask monday. Does anyone have an example of their timing table?
What octane were you running and what was the shop temperature
93 Octane here in Georgia. The high for the day was 61, so probably somewhere in the 50s. I asked my tuner to keep timing very conservative. Should have been low humidity as well.
Congrats! Looks like you did get a conservative tune and it should still be loads of fun! In for videos!
I think you may be the second finished FI TT G right?
I believe Sewlman was the first. Don't know if NeverBoneStock is done yet. If he isn't, it is the second one. We got our kits around the same time I think.
I have had my car back for about a week now after adjustments to the tune at Forged Performance. My idle seeks a little, going to get a smoke test done of the vacuum system as well as MAFs and TBs cleaned since I have never done it before and the mileage is 70k. Some little mini reviews:
FI Stage 1 TT kit: The feel of the kit is amazing. Easy driving you will feel like you are in a stock G37, the only hint of turbo comes on shifts near boost or above boost when you hear the BOVs open. It is very street drivable. When you want to hit boost, it is there, instantly. It will throw you back even at half throttle. It really creates a nice duality to the car where you can choose how hard you want it to hit. When not in boost the mileage is almost as good as stock, even with 1000cc injectors. I have never really felt any "lag" in the system at all.
Competition Clutch Stage 3: Not much to write here, it bites hard and has handled very well. I am using the steel flywheel and you can hear it every now and then barely. It has gotten a lot quieter as it breaks in. It requires a good bit more muscle to push the clutch, but it was easy to adjust to.
Z1 Urethane Trans and Motor Mounts: Love them. The slop is completely taken out of the shifter. There is almost no extra NVH introduced into the cabin either. You may feel bumps in the road slightly more. If you are worried about how harsh they are, don't, they are great.
AFE Takeda and Motordyne ART pipes: I really like this combination, it does not drone, and it is not harsh. Highway driving is very pleasant, though it can get a bit loud cruising in the city. It is easily the loudest part of my build.
CJ S1-S: Phunk does great work with these kits. I consider it mandatory for any forced induction application.
Galeforce A-Pillar: Jason does great work. I thought I would want to cloth it to make it blend better, but upon seeing it in the car I am very happy.
WedsSport SA-15R 19x10.5/9.5: Not much to say, they had the offsets I needed in the correct sizes. I got the gloss clear bronze and I love the color. It looks a little black until it hits the sun, then you see the bronze in it. Nice and lightweight. They are rotary forged. I may have forgotten some parts of the build, but just ask and I will give you my opinion!
MAFs and TBs were cleaned, but they were nearly spotless. Vacuum lines up top were smoked to check for leaks with none found. Idle is extremely rich (9-12 AFR). I believe there is an exhaust leak, bad sensors, stuck injector, or something else. It is currently at Forged in queue to have them look into it. I get a little smoke sometimes at low load, think an oil line may not be routed correctly to allow oil to drain from the turbo to the pan. It isn't very often, and I have trouble reproducing. After 1000 miles I didn't notice any drop in oil pressure or oil level in the engine, so it must not be burning much. Either way, I prefer to find the reason and not have to worry about smoking people who are walking nearby. Just ready to have my car back, haven't had it as a solid DD since last July when I originally brought it in to be supercharged.
So much WIN in this build, congrats on being one of the FI TT pioneers, Lance (1cleanG) has done a great job keeping the updates w/ FI through the product development.
BTW, do you have any closeup shots of those Weds, they are on my short list along w/ the sa55m. That bronze accent sounds appealing and the offsets are sedan friendly. What offsets did you end up with?
