Thank you. Of all of the OEM wheels I've seen the ones I had were one of my favorites. The plasti dip just kept me happy changing something while no mods were happening. I was actually going to paint them blaze yellow next but ended up getting the new wheels before that happened.

All the car know-how I have came from doing the work myself and learning as I went along. For my first car (1984 300ZX) the very first thing I did was go to the auto parts store and buy the Haynes repair manual for it. I read everything I wanted to do many times before I tried it and saved lots of money doing all my maintenance. I could probably still do a complete brake job on that car.

I was going to grab some pics of the android setup today but it's been raining since I got home. Maybe later tonight or tomorrow afternoon I can update some more.

lol. OK then, since you insist.

First thing I did was dig up an old android phone that I leave in the car once all setup. It is an HTC EVO 4G LTE. You don't have to use this phone but you do need a ROOTED phone with MHL out or the newer DisplayPort out. On top of that you must flash a custom ROM with a custom kernel that allows full mirroring of the display/MHL port.

It was also easier for me since I have RCA in the console already. From the RCA you go to a USB powered HMDI to RCA converter.


For the USB power I bought a generic hub with multiple outlets and two USB ports, it accidentally fits perfectly. You need to make sure your USB ports provide 2.1 amps, many cheaper ones will only give 1 amp output and it won't be enough.



From this point forward I no longer use the center console as there is not much space left for anything else. From the USB port you need a USB to USB mini cable to power the HMDI converter.

This is an MHL out converter. Connect your HDMI cable here and then to the phone, notice it has an optional plug on the side that will charge the phone at the same time, you'll need to use that.


From there I tuck the phone in between the passenger seat and the center console. For the connection to the OBDII I use a bluetooth adapter and a 5' extension cable from the port. Once plugged in this tucks between the driver seat and center console.

 

Make sure to buy Torque Pro if you want full functionality.


Highly recommend to buy the additional PID code reader specifically for our engines.


Other plugins are optional..


Finally, enter the app and set it up the way you want it to look and perform, make sure to add the PID's.

 

To get some black end caps and a new lock key for my Volk lug nuts, I decided to buy an imitation set.


They arrived yesterday and I noticed they were almost identical to the real thing, except for quality of course.



The only good thing that came of these was that the black end caps fit great. They even came with rubber grommets to prevent water from getting inside the lug. However, the unlock key for the lugs that came with it was brand new and stripped completely on the first turn of my real Volks. I tried to take off only one nut and now the whole key is useless. On the one hand I am disappointed that I have to buy another key but on the other hand at least I know these can't be bought and used as a thieving tool.
