I'm going to bump my old intro thread with some current pictures, so I can know where to go to easily find them. Not exactly a "build thread", because I take absolutely forever to mod my car, slowly, one thing at a time. But it's as close as I'll likely come to one.

So... current pic of the engine bay, including a new GT-Spec FSTB, as well as my custom painted engine cover.

And here is my custom painted front grille:

Oh, and these OEM Sport Sways:

...were sold to blnewt. In their place is this pair of Eibach Sways.

Best. Mod. Ever.

As another moonlight white guy, I kind of like that you kind of like it.

Honestly, it's only been a week since I had it done, but I can sincerely say it looks so much more right to me than the OEM chrome. Not just more appealing, but correct... as in, Infiniti should have designed it this way.

My only regret is that it's not a 100% color match. But this is one of those things where I can live with "good enough", and won't be obsessing over it. (much)

I agree with the overly chrome grill. Although I like the idea of the color matched edge, I'm still on the fence on if I like that better than the chrome edge with the center black. The white edge does make it more unique than all the black out grills out there in all variations.

Someone here on the forum has a Graphite Shadow sedan done in the same manner, and it looks absolutely amazing. GS is a gorgeous paint on the G, and his grille mod is perfect.

LOLURMAD is the guy who inspired me with this grille mod on his MW, which was similarly painted by 180Custom out of NYC... although he color matched Mt. Fuji, whereas I kept the chrome face.

Now that the slats are metallic black, I can't imagine ever considering vinyl or plastidip when trying for that DIY Midnight Grille. There's just no comparison to a professional paint job.

I agree. They do have the metallic black 3M vinyl now. I've been contemplating on getting it redone with that.

Car is really nice. Love the custom engine color. Forgot how nicely the white looks when clean.

I just trolled this forum so hard to find this thread, Rochester. As always, you're keeping it classy and tasteful.

Not sure if you've been on the org recently, but I ended up totaling the Maxima and picking up an 07 G35S 6MT. I'm only on this forum because my original plan was a G37S coupe, but I found it to be out of my price range.

Anyway. Back to topic. The car looks fantastic and I can't wait to see it in the coming days. Or should I say years? Hahaha.

I appreciate the kind words. Thank you. Nice upgrade you've made to the HR in the '07, and a proper RWD 6MT.

And yes, that would be "years". I'm the polar opposite of the guy who does everything at once.

Thanks go to LOLURMAD for the inspiration, and in turn to 180Custom in NYC who recommended the design to him.

I participated in Autocross yesterday, with a friend who came down from Canada for the event. Clipped a few cones , got a little sunburned. and came in 6 out of 24 in Novice Class, which made me pretty happy. The Eibach Sway bars kept the car incredibly flat in the slaloms compared to last year, which totally validates their purchase, IMO.

Anyway, he took some pictures of the car that I like, so I thought I'd post them here.

your car looks new. you're lucky you work from home and don't have to drive your car daily and park outdoors.

Well, I did spend some time just now buffing out scuff marks from some of the cones I hit yesterday, so that new-car look isn't exactly effortless.

Although driving under 7K or 8K miles/year does help. Thanks for the comp, sniper.
