Thank you, Newt. I do love the neighborhood. Small home, but not at all pretentious, while still appealing and with lots of character. Houses all build in the 1920's... gumwood trim, hardwood floors, high ceilings, etc. And the neighborhood is pleasant too, with sidewalks and mature trees. My kids walk to school often, which is cool.

With a white car, my thought is to leave them as is. It's far too slippery a slope to go full Oreo with the whole Black & White theme. If I could do anything, I'd like to darken the chrome without actually going black. I've considered buying a can of VHT Nite-Shade to play with, and see if that could work. I know blnewt has some skills there.

Stock for now, yes. Next Spring I'll be installing a pair of RHFC from FI. And down the road, a catback... not sure who from, but at this point that will likely be FI, too.

The tips are 3.5" Round single-wall Magnaflows, with a 45 degree slash cut. They're custom cut and welded directly to the cans. The OEM tips were cut off with a hacksaw. I keep one of them on the shelf here in my office as a bookend. Kind of a memento. They really are garbage, IMO.

Did you intentionally made the cut on the sides of the valence (more pronounce on the driver side) so it doesn't follow the curvature? It seems it was cut too steep.

No, and yes. The vinyl shop that did the work really, really butchered the job, in so many ways. Afterwards, I took it to a tint shop who fixed the work by cutting perfectly straight edges throughout. It's where I should have gone in the first place... god damn hindsight. Unfortunately, the only way to fix the corners was do drop them both even to one another.

There are some other small, details that only I notice, but you've hit on the one that really bugs me. The only solution would be to rip it all off and start over, and I think when it gets to that point, I might have it painted instead.

It doesn't look terrible. I remember you fixing it, but I don't recall the sides turning out like that. Just an observation. Still looks better than nothing back there.

Your engine bay has me drooling, Rochester. Very well done.

I think I'll give mine a little TLC this long weekend, as you've now made me insecure about the leaves and dust making homes in my engine bay.

Hey Rochester, car looks great. Engine bay clean enough to eat off of, as always. Figured I could use another forum membership...

Hey, buddy. You stalking me now? LOL! Figure you'd be ripping it up on the Bimmer forums with that 335i Coupe.

For background, zero2sixty had one of the nicest modified 5.5 Gen Maxima's going, for many years on Maxima.org.

In May 2013, I saw a few engine covers here on the forum that were custom painted, where the silver area of the cover was another color. I liked the idea, and got it into my head that gold was the way to go. But gold was too *gold*, so I went with a light, satin gold-ish color.

Except that after a while it just looked yellow to me. And not quite right. Plus, there were little flaws here and there in the paint that bugged me.

So this week I repainted it. This time I went with this amber color, that's in between copper and orange. It nicely matches the round edge of the intake couplers to the throttle bodies. Plus, I got a little more detailed with a set of those tiny brushes you get at the hobby store.

At some point, I may just buy a new engine cover for $95 and start over clean, or send it to someone here on the forum who does custom painting. But for now at least, more so than the yellow, it's a keeper.

Pics here. Just like before, the color varies depending on the light and the angle. And while it's true I'm liking this more than the previous color, I have to admit to what I'm looking at. Two words: orange sherbet.

Meh. It was something to do. Now I need to find something else to do.

Nice job (as always) John, I still think you should paint it white as per JPSBLACKs' latest covers, I know you'd do a great job and that white engine bay would pop even more IMO.

That guy!

He certainly would do a worthy custom job. Here's one he posted recently that's black & white. A little too Oreo for me, but damn that guy has skills.

You've got that guy that did a great job on your grill and color matched the white real well, he could probably do the same for your motor cover, and just the part that you currently have painted orange could be white, you could do the sanding and finish it up w/ that painter to match the white. IMO that would really go well w/ your bay. You could even do the Infiniti emblem the same color as your oil cap or one of your other smaller accents in your bay for a bit of contrast. That white bay looks the best of any Infiniti color, just shows up so much better than dark car paint.
