Just can't leave the poor thing alone... more suspension adventures, g37x
There wasn't a single thing wrong with my coilovers. Well, some nit-picky issues, but they've served me way better than expected for over 2 years. Then I remembered the ancient wisdom - If it ain't broke, break it. (Totally setting this as my signature...) So, I went ahead and did exactly that.
Long story slightly less long, I picked up a used set of Megan's EZII, seems like a highly regarded budget pick around here. Put everything in, went for a test drive and hated every second of it.
2 kilos per corner - a change from 12/10 to 10/8 - that's all it took to go from a reasonably competent, drivable vehicle to an equivalent of a Buick Roadmaster. Yeah, they are more comfortable, and probably fine for normal people, who modify their vehicles while utilizing common sense. Like, keeping their tires within the perimeter of the chassis, for instance.
Not me.
Common sense deficiency runs strong around here, and a choice of a squared set of 245/50R18 on 10.5, ET22, seemed like a great idea. No, that's not a typo.
So, while that great idea worked quite lovely with the old, stiffer coils, the new setup would make sure that the contact between the tires and the fenders was as intimate and prolonged as possible.
Now, to the good bit. I was considering several options and reached out to some well-known folks. BC was (is) doing their BOGO sale, so I tried them first. Contacted them via the site chat box. The guy was cool for like 5 seconds. Once he realized that I just wanted springs, he turned into an impatient pr...k. After ending that chat, i hit up Megan - what a night and day! This Nelson dude (shoutout) went above and beyond, pulling measurements, taking photos, at the end of the day I didn't even care that I could have found a better deal. Ended up getting 4 new springs, went with 14/10, divorced, plus some odds and ends.
And now, we wait for the fedex truck.
To be continued...
