Evening Everyone,

I tried to search with little luck but was wondering what everyone thought about banded rims. There is someone in my area with a set of G35 Sport rims that have been banded 1 inch up front making it 9.5 and 2 inches in back for 10.5. The welds look proper and the seller states that it was professionally done and tested. Not sure how comfy I feel about an OEM rim being cut and re-welded but I do like the look of them. I also know it was a popular practice back in the day. Any input would be appreciated.

I personally wouldn't buy someone elses modified rims.

 

I googled it and it looks really dangerous if you’re into crazy driving.

 

The seller is going to say anything they can to sell those. I wouldn't touch them with a 10' pole. I wouldn't put them on my worst enemies car.

 

@Epiphany Yeah I agree, hence why I felt uneasy....

@Joyryde Not really a crazy driver, just enjoy a spirited drive every now and then. NYC roads definitely don't help either.

@stealthee Fair point as well. I couldn't imagine the nightmares that would happen.

Well, I guess this sums it up. Not gonna buy them regardless of how cool they might seem. Seller in my area also seemed to price drop it. Guess they really want them gone.... Oh well...

 

Almost like nobody else wants them, either.
