Sway bars any help?

I'm going to be buying a set of hotchkis sway bars and my friend seems to think it won't be a very noticeable difference, not worth buying. What do the you guys who have them think?

Give the forums a search. This question is as old as the v36 platform lol. Its one of the best bang for your buck upgrades you can do for your car.

I've looked at quite a few threads on here. I guess from his point of view the car handles pretty good stock is it worth $440 for it.

Instead of an aftermarket part I plan on getting a rear sway bar from a sport model. I have an X with the thickest front bar but it’s just a bit too messy. It would tighten everything up

Worth every penny and then some. It's a no-brainer decision. Best bang for buck mod on this car.

I guess it's harder to know how good they are without using them. An exhaust you can see video for how it sounds, and hp upgrades you can see. sway bars you have to feel yourself. Anyway thanks for the input, I'll keep those on my list.

Don't listen to them for car advice lol.

Research on the forums thoroughly. There is a TON of useful info on here. Like everyone else said, best bang for the buck. The car is a boat stock. Mine handles much better now. Granted, I have a ton of other suspension mods as well but body roll is significantly reduced.

BillyTheMan: I have the Eibach sways and it was a very worthwhile mod for firming up the suspension. You didn't mention if you have the stock suspension or aftermarket but if you are stock, aftermarket sway bars like the hotchkis and eibachs will tend to be even more noticeable due to the softness of the springs/shocks relative to most aftermarket. suspensions. also, the more adjustable the sway bars are, the more flexible they will be to meet your preferences in handling i.e. multiple holes on the bar ends where the end links attach.

Here's a good thread that goes into some detail comparing aftermarket sway bars:

I just installed the hotchkis sway bars this weekend and man did it make a difference. I’m currently lowered on Truhart coilovers quite a bit to the point where sometimes on hard corners my front would rub the plastic liner. The coilovers I have were a bit bouncy and these sways have gotten rid of the bounce. I feel very planted with little body roll. I’d suggest going for them! I also have the rears on the middle setting.

I put Eibach bars on my 08 coupe and they made a very noticeable difference even on their softest setting. My car is much more stable in corners now with a firmer ride. Money well spent.

When my car was new and all original parts, meaning RWD with LSD and staggered summer tires, it would always understeer on a hard turn. It didn't take much. Swaybars installed, problem solved.

sways are definitely a great upgrade - look into eibachs & you'll save about 50-75 per bar. makes a huge difference with curves / turns / bodyroll

Definitely worth it especially if you have an awd and you're upgrading. Car is much more neutral and planted with reduced body roll.
