Knock when turning wheel at low speed

Hey all, upon startup and driving off (after letting her warm up a bit since its cold now) ive been getting a strange knock when i turn the steering wheel almost to the maximum angle when i am driving out of my parking spot. Sounds like its coming from the driver side suspension area, not sure if its coming from the steering rack or not. doesnt seem to do it at higher speeds, just low speeds. does the same thing when i get to work and back into my spot. Not sure if it did this before it got cold. Does anyone have any idea what it could be before i take it to the dealer?

AWD? Or RWD? Mine did that when my front left CV Boot was torn. Had to replace the axel.

+1 for what Hexotic mentions...

If your car is AWD, check the front CV joints- both inner and outer joints for each axle (driver/pass. side) for torn boots. If any are torn you will see grease splattered all over.

Typically, when a OUTER CV joint is compromised/worn, you will hear a clicking sound when turning under throttle (like pulling into/out of a parking spot). When the INNER joint is compromised/worn, you will typically hear a knocking/thumping/thudding sound during accel/deceleration.

(image from eBay- G37x passenger side)

If a boot is torn, it will be A LOT easier to just replace the axle than it will to rebuild the CV joint. Been there, done that- royal pain in the rear.

If your car is RWD, then you will have to check your wheel bearings and suspension components for wear/loose connections/etc.

If that’s the issue then it’s your sway end links had it happen to me just a bad clunking noise, specially over speed bumps

I just started having the same issue in my 13 G37x.

it happens when I turn right and then back left. I drove in circles in reverse with no noise. It sounds like it’s coming from the front driver side. My car only has 75,000 on it so I wouldn’t think it was the cv axle as both bootable are good.

funny enough mine doesn’t do it anymore and I never changed anything, so I’m not sure.
