Hello, Crusher. You're getting older.

Since this is sliding into a parts list... what's your opinion about the 2-piece rotors at Z1 Motorsports? I'm about 3 weeks away from ordering them on Black Friday, having already come to peace with the cost / benefit expectations, real or imagined. Rotors, pads, and lines... I'm thinking $1,300 in parts plus 3-4 hours shop time.
ask and you shall receive. It wasn't a stupid question also it was a good one, I'm all about saving money.

I plan on buying them eventually. With Z1, there is nothing wrong with them and their quality of parts but they are expensive. i would only buy their ported manifolds and 2 piece rotors, usually I use them to get an idea of what something will cost when i start budgeting for mods but their products can be marked up by almost 60% in some cases. what Z1 is selling is piece of mind that if you buy from them it will work and they are good at that, so its not a knock on them but for OE parts....they are going to work, the car came with them lol.

My buddy own a performance shop and he just told me he can get everything at cost which is around. 1500 cad calipers, hardware, rotors, pads, brake shields all I would need to buy is z1 ss lines! This is a lot better! But he can only get them in red, I would much rather prefer oem silver with the infinti decal. But beggars can’t be choosers

My rule is if its more than 15-20% lower than what i see on rockauto/summit racing/jegs, because those are reputable and authorized dealers, i dont buy it thats too low to be a quality item lol. There is a guy on ebay that sells reman calipers powedercoated in any color you want stickers installed for 700 shipped. Rotors for this car are generally cheap, on Rockauto they range between $30-50, i know a local vender that gets me rotors for $25 a pop. Pads are just pads i have stoptech sport pads all round, so i spent a few pennies on those, however its all depending on the flavor pad you want pretty much anything for $40 and up from a decent company(Centric, benedix, Raybestos, akebono, brembo, EBC to name a few reputable companies) will be decent on the street. I'm using ISR braided lines they were i think 120 shipped. As far as dust shields those i have not sourced those because my car is a sport but they are not necessary, run them if you want to keep your suspension clean and free of brake dust however i cannot imagine them being more than 200 for all 4 corners, i would personally just get them used not new. They are only shields.

My refresh was:
Calipers: powerstop pre painted red calipers, Rockauto and Summit $430 after core return.
Rotors: local hookup, its Advanced Auto rotors basically: $100
Pads: stoptech sports, $150 carid
Lines: ISR $120
fluid: Pentosin DOT4 stuff from autozone $30, i had a stubborn air pocket i went through a lot of fluid.

all in all, i spent around $850 on refreshing the brakes.
With the core return would that work for me since I have non sport calipers? Or would I just have to bite the bullet on those?

Its your money so get what you want. if you want OEM silver get OEM silver. the caliper he is selling you are likely the powerstop calipers. i have those exact calipers. if you do not want them in red they also sell the caliper unfinished. so you would have to paint it silver yourself. Be aware the powerstop caliper is a brand new caliper but is not an akebono caliper its a replica caliper. They work fine with no issues many members are running this calipers however if you are a stickler for brand that will not be a good buy for you.

What i think you should do is have your buddy get your rotors pads lines and shield from him. Then source your own calipers. That way you can get what you actually want.

you will have to ask the company you are buying from some will say yes others will say now. I know your local part store will not care though lol a rock can be in the box and they will likely take it back.

Mojo, I got mine sandblasted and custom powder coated for 900 CAD in Toronto. You're overpaying if you break 1k CAD. Kijiji often has them come up anywhere from 700 to 1k. Guys at VQNorth also often have them for sale during partouts in the Facebook group.

Yea I found one local ad on kijiji guy but wants 1600 for the calipers and rotor from a salvaged car. I am finding used ones on eBay for $500 but they’re as is so if they’re broke. I gotta fox em

Rockauto often has refurbished/rebuilt ones in stock at a fraction of the price.
