I had Pilot A/S 3+ on my G37X and I was not a fan of the ride comfort. It was great as far as aggressive turning, but it was just a bad ride.Every bump or imperfection in the road felt so harsh.

I've been through DWS06 tires and currently on General GMAX AS-05 tires and both of these are great as far as ride comfort goes. They soak up the bumps well and the ride is very smooth. When cornering aggressively they're not as good as the A/S 3+ though.

Sounds like the pilot A/S 3+ is a notch or few down from the pilot super sports. It's not a grand touring tire but an aggressive all season. I'm seriously considering the A/S 3+ next time around... I need a bit better mileage than 20K.

Thus my conflict- you pick a tire from a manufacturer who hopefully has that 30 day satisfaction policy (since not all of them have this) and you're stuck with whatever's in that family- short of selling the tires on ebay/craigslist or something. This is part of what was pushing me toward the the Pirellis to begin with

FWIW, I had the previous version the Pilot Sport A/S 3: i just looked at my records and apparently I was able to get them to about 35k. But that was down to 2/32nd, with rotations every 6k miles or so. But I remember thinking at the point where I was at about 25k that I needed to be careful and not push them as much- they had worn down quite a bit. It was weird though- almost like they got to 25k then the last 10k took a really long time. I certainly hope that the mileage on the A/S 3+ has improved, dont know what you got on the PSS.

Much obliged. DWS06 has come up a few times, Selym had suggested the same thing at the get go. The Pirelli though seemed to test better than the DWS06 in everything but winter performance... And looks, if that were a factor; Pirellis look so plain Jane next to the DWS 06. If i cared about winter performance it would be the DWS06, hands down

Btw, you used the same word Tirerack used in their test-harsh. Thats what started this whole thing for me. And the ride quality you described is exactly my fear. Ive been looking in the q50 forums and theres similar sentiments- a lot love them but when you get into the ride quality then its like "well..."

I got ~13K now on the PSS's. Should be good for another 6K or more. Of course, as they wear further, dry weather driving will be fine, it's the wet (hydroplaning) that becomes the concern. I suppose I'll price shop when the time comes. Car barely sees any driving in the winter, even with the winter tires. Depending what total mileage I get, I may just go with another pss set. Rotating is difficult on this car... It's just side to side because of staggered arrangement.

Staggered definitely adds to the challenge. Ive been doing about 19-20k miles yearly- i would need new summers other year at that rate😬

Have these tires now. Coming from Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S. They handle better than the Yokohamas but aren't as resistant to hydroplaning. They seem to ride the same. They take bumps ok. But they tend to flat spot overnight if it's cold and take forever to warm up. If it's cold outside they don't grip as well and the ride is a little firmer. And any snow over 2 inches with hills you might want to take the bus. The sidewalls are very stiff. But they grip and ride fine if it's warm outside and it's almost impossible to get them to lose traction. So i say get these if you drive in warm weather most of the time and if you can get these at a good price. I would have gotten the Pirellis but they were not recommended for my car when I went on Pirellis website looking for recommended tires. I ended up with the Michelins because if you go here, https://www.infinititireadvantage.com, they have select tires they recommend for your car and the Michelins were highly rated and Pirelli wasn't on the list.

Here are the only recommended high performance tires by Consumer Reports that scored good for ride comfort and very good for noise, in order of overall rating in their category.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+
Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus (excellent noise rating)
Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 (Sold as SureContact RX by Tire Kingdom, National Tire and Battery (NTB), Big O Tires and Service Centers, and Merchant's Tire & Auto Centers. Got these on their buy 2 get 2 free deal for another car and saved $230)

Summer tires
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3
Nokian zLine

Thank you- lots of good info there, especially with the Yokohama- i believe the Advan was put up against the BF Goodrich Comp 2 AS. The snow bit on the A/S3+ IS surprising as thats one of the areas Michelin was targeting with the silica/ sunflower oil mix.
I have to say, it sounds like you did the same thing i did-going to pirellis site ( im still not sure why the pzeros arent coming up when you enter G/Q info), going to that same Infiniti site- i just figured they didnt have that Pirelli in stock.

Appreciate all the feedback, just pulled the trigger on the Pirellis about an hour ago from Townfair Tire. They didnt have them in stock but they will get them shipped to my store. Looking at getting them installed over the weekend. Bottom line, im hoping that even though not the absolute best in a few dry performamce areas vs the A/S3+, they'll be close enough that it wont make a huge difference for me and ill get the ride quality that i want. Given all the feedback here im sure if had my old reverse commute that was all highway i wouldve just ordered the A/S3+ and called it a day. Will be sure to add my initial impressions once i get them on and a better review once i get a few thousand miles on the.
And Pirelli is also running a $70 rebate thru the 29th i believe if anyones thinking the same- helped make that decision a touch easier.

Cool. I didn't get the Advans again, even though they were cheap, because i wasn't happy with the tread wear. Otherwise they were fine. Next time i might try the Continentals on the NTB buy 2 get 2 free deal. The only reason I can think the Pirellis weren't recommended for my IPL was because the fronts were only rated A in wet traction, while the rears rated AA. The traction ratings on tires refers to wet traction, to anybody that doesn't know. When i saw that it pushed me to the Michelins. I had an accident before in my other car because it had tires that didn't have the best wet traction.

Interesting the wet traction ratings are different with the different sizes of the same tire. Dont know that i wouldve thought to check that if i was running staggered.
