Tramlining / Twitchy Steering solution needed
Hi, just joined. Here's my main question. I'm looking for suggestions, from actual experience, for A/S tires that exhibit the least, or no Tramlining.
Background - I own a 2013 G37X AWD with 44K miles. Currently running Perilli Citurato Strada A/S 17" tires.with 6K miles on them. Was annoyed enough with the need for constant steering micro-correction (tramlining) that I was considering selling the car. But 1st decided to get the alignment checked first. My guy found Toe-In to be out of spec by 1/16" and brought it into the innermost limit of the spec. Everything else looked fine mechanically, under there. Says it's normal for this to change as the car ages and settles on the springs with age. This helped a lot, but the vehicle is still lacking center feel and requires small steering correction almost constantly (somewhat road surface dependent). My research tells me that this is largely a function of wide-ish performance tires, but from the looks of the surprisingly high quality of the suspension components, I'm expecting better. Any advice appreciated! Love the car, don't want to start over with anything else.

It's unfortunate that caster isn't adjustable w/ the factory control arms, you might consider a set of SPC front upper control arms, you can adjust the caster w/ these and would help with what you're experiencing, and like slartibartfast said, it is more pronounced w/ certain tire brands/construction and wider contact patch.
Mine was doing it bad so I bought 4 new tires and got it aligned - no more tramlining. Did you notice it day 1 with your new tires? it could be possible your alignment was messed up enough to wear those tires down fast causing the steering issues you are having
