Hi all, I am planning on getting swift springs for my G37S sedan. Someone told me that the stock suspension basically has no alignment adjustment when it comes to camber, so I'm wondering, will dropping it 1.2 inches in front and 0.8 inches in the back require me to get alignment arms? What's recommended for these cars? I was really hoping that I would just have to buy springs and that would be it, but if I have to buy suspension control arms just to align the car, that may change my plans about getting springs.

 

I think you can get by with swifts. You will get a little bit of camber but nothing that will significantly affect tire life.

 

If let's say I had to get something to align the car, what are some of the options out there? I'm totally new to setting up suspension a G37, and I didn't even know that it wasn't adjustable. Seems completely backwards to me, but that's beside the point already, since I own the car.

What's factory alignment specifications on these cars? It seems to be getting excellent tire wear right now, so I'd like to keep the same.

So, I've made more research on the control arms needed for this, and it looks like it's additional 640 dollars to the original 314 for the springs. So, almost a grand to drop the car 1 inch? I think I might just leave it as is.

 

It's so worth it though.....

 

Unless I get substantial discount on the parts somewhere, I'm not so sure. The car isn't terribly high anyway, so I don't mind it that much.

 

Well I'll go get my tires/alignment checked here pretty soon and I'll get back to you on this post. I'm pretty sure -2 camber isn't bad at all, the toe is what kills tires.

 

So, I talked to a local Z shop, and they said that 1 inch should not be a problem to align with factory hardware. At the most like Mattyem has mentioned, I might have to get rear toe bolts. This is starting to look promising.

 

I have a set of swift springs for sedan awd in my office right now. hesitant to install becus of additional spending required to alignment. please keep me posted..

btw u might need wheel spacers if you want a flush look i heard the wheels are tucked a bit when u drop on swifts

 

zonnie, I don't think I'll need the spacers anywhere. The wheels sit pretty much flush right now, and one inch drop isn't going to change that. Also, don't hold your breath for the updates, the springs have been shifted way down on my priority list for this car now. I'd get sway bars, mufflers, and rear diffuser before I get the springs at this point.

 

The problem with all this is getting that actual 1" minimal drop, there's a couple ways to do this, get Tanabe springs but then the rear drops more than the front leaving you w/ a sagging ****

Using 370z springs which drop a little bit but not quite an inch IIRC.

Using Swift springs that drop more than an inch and more often than not you'll need at least a rear camber/toe kit.

Using Tein Basis Z coils (on a RWD) and dropping them to the minimum drop, this is probably the easiest way to get a mild and even drop, but even then the rear camber/toe kit should be on your menu.

 

Color me interested in 370z springs. Are there any before and after pictures? What are the spring rate differences between the two? I'm mainly interested in dropping the front end a little bit, so I can get like an inch in the front a bit less in the rear with 370z springs, that would be great. I'm pressure sure I can find them for cheap too.

Edit: Something to consider is, Sport sedan was already lower than standard or journey, so was the difference observed going from stock sedan to 370z or sport to 370z.
