Brake Fluid
Brake Fluid
What type of brake fluid does everyone use? I had some type of fluid in my G for 2+ years and it was still golden clear when I flushed it. When I did my brakes/rotors earlier this year, I flushed it with Valvoline dot 3/4 and within a couple of months, it's already going brown.

Agreed, valvoline seems to discolor quickly. I'm using prestone dot 4 right now. We'll see how long it goes before discoloring. Stock in the car is dot 3, which iirc is less hygroscopic than dot 4.
I really don't see a point in using racing brake fluid unless you can actually benefit from its benefits. No need for it unless you're tracking the car or running it under conditions where a higher wet boiling point is needed.

How long have you had the Prestone in for and how's it looking thus far? I'd really like to know how they hold up a year or 2 from now.

Probably a month or so. Too early to tell.
Edit! I just checked my notes. I did put valvoline dot 3/4 in the brakes. Prestone dot 4 was for the clutch.
