I'm preparing to do a brake job on my 08 G37 Sport. Just picked up a set of 4 stock replacement front brake pads. Only 2 of the brake pads have clips on them. What are these clips for? Depending on the way I can install these, they can either face up or down. Please help

 

Those are your pad indicators. When your pads get low, they'll rub against your rotors and squeal like a stuck pig to let you know you need to replace your pads.


Each side gets one indicator installed so when you are taking off your old pads, just take note of how the stock setup looked like so you can install it the same way.
