Wheel Care in Winter

Hey all,

Obviously the vast majority of people run winter tires to keep their aftermarket wheels out of the salt and on performance summer rubber. I'm buying wheels soon and my question is, how hard would it be to simply run the larger wheels all year round and maintain them through the winter?

If I buy some all seasons I could put them on now and enjoy them year round, but if I go with summers they'll be sitting in my garage for months out of the year. It's an investment and I want to protect them. Just want to know if that's possible during the cold months here in NJ. Thanks and Happy New Year

There are some decent wheel protection products, might shoot a PM to Rochester and see what he recommends, seems to have pretty good solutions for that kind of thing.

If I were you I'd still go w/ the winter/summer dedicated sets though. All Season tires are a big compromise for all but cold weather. You'll enjoy your G much more the 6-8 months that you can run summers, and you can keep a nicer set of wheels that don't have to be subjected to the winter crud, plus it's hard to see a curb under a lot of snow

get some snow tires ... my wife did a few 360's in her WRX on all season tires on a slippery road (i was in the passenger seat grabbing the "oh s**t" handle) ... AWD doesnt help on ice.

the money you pay for some snow tires and cheap wheels is good peace of mind and can save you $$$ if you dont have an accident.

If I had DPEs they'd probably be on my mantle so I could admire them all the time
