Hey everyone, so I have seen this discussed but the last discussion seemed to be in 2010 so I figured I would bring this up again. I am ready to do the last "mod" to my car which is to get rid of the horrible 17" wheels that came with the car.

I'm all set with the wheels, or at least I know what to get, but the lowering part is the issue. I don't want to lower the car, but because I have the X sedan it looks like a truck with a lift kit. Apparently, Eibach only makes lowering springs for the X COUPE and the non-X sedan.

My question is: why would the sedan springs not be cleared for the X? Apparently others have used them without a problem, but then why does the description exclude AWD? Also, if the kit costs $350 brand new, how much in labor can I expect to pay a reputable shop (MA)?

Also, if I plan on doing this at the same time I get my new wheels with a full alignment, I don't need to worry about getting a camber kit or anything, right?

 

Here's a thread that may be of help, they're Eibach G35X Sedan springs and they seem to offer a nice drop, as far as needing camber kits, probably in the rear at least

You can also go w/ Swift Springs, they make an AWD sedan version as does Tanabe, but the Tanabes drop a bit more in back so here's a thread about that too

good to know, thanks! given that it's basically impossible to find a square set of 19's, i'm worried I'll have to go aftermarket. Do you know of any wheels that fit the Infiniti center caps? I want the car to look as stock as possible.

 

If you can't locate the coupe 19s in a square set (sometimes they turn up in the classifieds) you could look for Infiniti 19" wheels from the M sedan, they look nice and are square. Also Nissan wheels use the same center cap, might be some Maxima 19s

 

This is an X with 19x8.5 Infiniti rims and Tanabe NF210 springs. No cam kit installed yet as only rear is out of spec and barely, I like the slight slam look... If you're looking for a year round option somewhere with mediocre to bad roads like me, this might be a good suggestion since it reduces wheel gap but doesn't leave you scraping.

Thanks man, I picked up the springs for $180 and had my local dealer install them, so add the time of labor. Worth it to kill the AWD gap though.

 

awesome, did you go to the infiniti deal or a local garage? How much did they charge? I've been having a hard time getting a read on if this is something that a garage can do in an hour or if it takes 5.

 

I went to Infiniti and I had rims mounted on tires and had them installed with the springs, had a squeaky belt looked at, changed the oil and oil filter and also got it waxed and buffed so it took right under 10 hours at $80 an hour but I think that depends on the dealer.
