Coilover trunk adjustment

I installed a set of D2 full coilovers and as of right now the ride is to stiff. I've seen the **** extenders people use to adjust through the trunk, what I'm wondering is if anyone has found another way of doing this, like cutting out a piece of the inner trunk wall so that it could be resealed when done.

I was thinking about doing this and couldn't find any topic in the search, any ideas, really don't want to have to pull the wheels and disconnect the strut every time I want to adjust dampening.
