Bridgestone S-04 vs. Michelin PSS

Gonna pull the trigger tomorrow on a new set of summers. Looking for any feedback on going with the S-04's over the PSS's (225's front and 245's rear). S-04's are $162 less for the set, or $40 a tire cheaper. Car is an '08 coupe S 6mt. It's my DD- I have a Miata to play with for auto-x. Are the PSS's worth an extra $40 per tire?

Both excellent choices that you wont be unhappy with. However, I have more happy customers on the PSS than any other tire in its class over the years. If its within your budget I would really recommend going PSS.

I second that. PSS are the best tires I have driven on in 30 years. Nothing else came close.

Ive had both on my G.

I vote S04s. Better standing start traction, quieter, and the steering seemed stiffer.

I think Costco carries Bridgestone and Michelin. I got my PSS there. They were incredibly detail oriented mounting and balancing them, no issues.

I think I'd trust Costco over Discount, at least the experiences I've had at Discount.

I've had terrible experiences with Discount. They either under or over tightened the lugs on the rear wheel of my Mazda 6s. In ~50 miles 3 studs snapped.

They put both rear tires on one side and both fronts on the other side of my wifes E90 sport. How can you not notice the difference in a 225 vs 255 tire

The tech at Costco checked the lug torque, then another tech checked it again, then, since it seemed like only the manager could drive MT, he backed it out and checked it a 3rd time. They asked why I had blue painters tape around a spoke on each rear wheel--so you don't mix them up and mount them wrong! They laughed, and were pretty confident they wouldn't make that mistake

It definitely depends on the shop because I've had horrible experiences at some discounts yet I have nothing but good things to say about the one I go to now. I also hang out in the bay with them to make sure things go right and yes, I hate being one of "those" guys but sometimes you have to be to make sure things go as intended.

I'm that guy too. If they won't let me in the bay, I'll stand right outside it
