Brake and Rotor Suggestions

Hey all,

I have a 2009 G37x sedan, non sport.

If you have any recommendations on good street pads and rotors it would be appreciated. Combo if you know of anything.

I was thinking slotted and drilled in the front.

Where to buy as well otherwise I use RockAuto.com.

I'm in NY on Long Island if that helps.

Centric premium rotors and Stoptech Street pads from rockauto are a good setup, once you get on rockauto get the part #s and then check those numbers on Amazon.com might find the same or even better price along w/ free shipping. I'd just stick w/ blank rotors.

I'm running Centric premium blank rotors and Akebono ProAct pads. No noise, great smooth stopping power, no complaints.

I have details on my purchase in my build thread including prices paid if you are interested.

I have heard the OEM blanks tend to warp pretty easily?

Centric slotted or drilled any good? I try to avoid drilled from the horror stories I have heard.

Found all 4 corners Brembo blanks for approximately $300. Decent deal? I think?

Centric is the parent company of Stoptech, and they're a good quality rotor, the permium blanks are a good choice and for looks slotted>drilled.
(4) blanks for $300 sounds fair.

Hi Ryne, I was reading your build thread. Can you tell me if the parts you ordered for your brake pad swap - are those the sport pads? They look like them. Wondering if I order all the same parts you did (except the calipers) if they will fit my 2008 G37S?

Thanks for the advice. I just got my G37S today and it failed inspection because apparently the brake pads are metal on metal. I refused to pay them $1100 to replace the pads (that wasn't even including new rotors!)

So I'm trying to order the pads myself and want to make sure I order the right stuff.

I got a set of Brake Motive rotors and pads off ebay for cheap. All 4 corners. They are slotted and drilled. They look good. I should be installing them in a few weeks.

I just got my EBC High Carbon Vee Slot Rotors and Red Stuff pads and they appear to be very high quality. I have not installed them yet and won't for probably a month. Maybe sooner, not sure yet. I'll post a review after install.

I did the Akebono BBK on my Journey back in November, which was supplied by Tunerzstore. I went with 2-pc DBA 5000 series slotted rotors upfront and Stoptech 1-pc slotted rotors in the rear. I went with Project Mu Type NS pads. (Street pads).

So far I have been really happy with the set up. I haven't really experienced any noise issues, the pads offer great initial and consistent bite. I feel much more confident in the car's breaking ability, which makes me feel safer given my sometimes "spirited" driving.

I like Adam's Rotors. I used them for my Volvo S60R. Lots of pattern options, and a good product.

It feels like I'll need to do pads and rotors on front for sure pretty soon. May do rears at same time. Looking to go with blanks and a good set of high perf street pads (something better than stock, but with low noise/dust characteristics). I've read all the brands here. Are there any sites you recommend to source everything?

^ we don't sell blanks and really there is no reason to...
just go with a simple slotted only, which will only benefit you and run our POSI-Quiet pad...it's exactly what you are describing.

I've never owned anything but blanks. What can you tell me about discoloration/corrosion in the slot itself - since the pad doesn't contact it to clean it up? I live Buffalo, NY and it's a DD. THanks.

^ not an issue, as every set of AR comes dipped with complimentary zinc coating, a rust preventative.
