Too Many Choices - 19" Tires - I Seek Yoda!

Hey All - my head is spinning. Fourth day I've spent my spare time researching, reading, making charts, sizing up test results, scanning this website, etc, etc....

This site helped me find the great deal on the convertible Anniversary rims and they are on their way. So... Now I need tires. Following the advice of some of the threads and members here, went with four 19x8.5's. Best tire size is 245/40/19.

I have read or watched professionals say:

Continental DWS - soft sidewalls, a bit squishy on turns.
General G-Max - loud on the highway, loud smack on bumps
Pirelli P Nero Zero - sub par in wet conditions
Kumho ecsta 4x - loud after a few tho miles
Cooper Xeon - ugly side wall, always look low on air
Michelin a/S 3 - expensive, out of my budget
Same for Goodyear Asymmetric and the Bridgestone whatevers970s
Yokohama YK580 - I remember the YK540's suk
Firestone Firehawk - tire rack says it need to do everything better

And on and on.

Of course all of these tires do ALOT of things very well. No argument there, and a lot of people like the tires I've listed here and have good reasons to say what they feel.

I'm at Analysis Paralysis !!!!!! Please weigh in!

Toyo T1 Sports are a great Summer tire w/ exceptional wet & dry grip, for the price there's not a better tire IMO. Just take it easy when the weather gets below freezing and you'll be a happy camper, much better than All Seasons.

Yes, I did leave them off the list. Will have check them out again. I think I kind of dismissed them as too pricey. Will check.

I have had a few "performance" all seasons on previous cars.

In my experience, I hated the Yokohamas (don't remember the model, but it was the most expensive ones lol)

I liked the Continental ContiExtreme's I had.

My favorite was the Michelin Pilot sports. Good grip and a nice looking tire. Not cheap, but cheaping out on tires can ruin the driving experience.

My bad, I thought you were a bit warmer year round
Might consider going w/ a dedicated winter set for the worst months and get out the bad boys for the warmer weather.

Ive been rocking summer tires year round in charlotte for 5+ years with no issues. The city essentially shuts down in the snow

True. We don't get enough snow to even have to worry about swapping winter wheels... what is that? lol

This is VERY helpful.
I too feel the same way and most of the people I've talked with don't seem to be looking for the same things in tires as I am.

I just need a good Wet/dry not too loud and not too $$$$ tire

FWIW, no tire is going to help with black ice. In above freezing conditions a summer tire is going to perform better in the wet than an AS. But I digress...

I had Pirelli P Zero Neros before and really liked them. Same for the Toyo Proxes 4.

What about putting some cheap AS tires on your OEM wheels and running summers on the 19s? You're giving up a lot of performance with the all seasons.

Talk w/ Andrew at Treadepot, he could get you a nice deal on those T1Sports (you'd love those tires) and I'm sure he'd get you set up w/ decent winter 17s that wouldn't blow your wallet to smithereens. If you do give him a call mention myg37.com.
Good luck w/ whatever direction you go.
FWIW I have the Toyo Proxes 4 plus A/S and they've been a good A/S tire, might put them on your list if you go A/S.
That said I'm going T1Sports when these tires are ready to be replaced. I've got about 18k on them right now and I should get 35-40k out of them at this rate.
Here's a review on them
