Search and Guidance for my new wheels.

Hey guys, My new 2012 Graphite 6MT Sedan will be delivered to my house next week (at the dealers now getting accessories added) and I will be in search of some wheels but do not know much about them. So I am looking for some guidance and hopefully get schooled on the subject.

I wanted to get the OEM 20" M series wheels for it and I read some pervious posts that it can be done, just want some clarification I suppose. I read the those are 245/40/20.... 20x9" rim. and the suggested for a G sedan is 245/35/20."

What needs to happen to make these fit, and can I still lower it once they get put on?

Any other advice about wheels in general would be helpful - never put different wheels on my car before. Thanks

They will fit just fine with no modification, just a simple swap. Yes you'll be able to lower it just as you would on stock wheels.

Congrats and good luck.

That depends on what on want out of a tire. Also whether you use the same tires all year round or have to use winter tires where you live. Performance, comfort, cheap price, or longevity? Prioritize those and then you'll know what type of tire you want and people can make suggestions.

I live in the deep south where it doesn't ever get really cold or snow. Performance is my main goal. I didn't really limit myself on price because tires are important to me. I have Michelin Pilot Super sport and I think they are the best street tire I've ever driven performance wise. They are also pretty good as far as treadwear for a Max Performance summer tire. They are much more comfortable ride and noise wise than I ever expected. They are expensive and they are not for cold or snow but they work in my circumstance.

From: New England
I just got new tires yesterday and went with the pilot super sports. Even though I live in new England, I went with a performance summer tire because I don't drive the car in snow at all. I did a lot of research before I chose what I was going to get, read a lot of reviews, and got a lot of suggestions. Everything pointed to either the hankook Ventus v12' or the pilot SS. I got lucky with pricing on both, so I decided to sink the money that I was saving into a better tire. I've only driven 50 miles or so, but the pilot SS are super smoothe and wicked quiet...I'm waiting to wear them in for like 200 miles before I test the performance side.

Like Jeremy said, you have to prioritize what you're looking for then do the research and decide. This forum is a great resource, but there's a lot of different opinions about tires...you really have to decide for yourself.

I understand - I will be driving in Michigan for right now but might be moving if a job opportunity opens elsewhere. Even if I stay in michigan I will not be driving in the snow. I have an older truck for that junk, Performance is important, longevity as well, how pricey are we talkin for those?
