Help Brake pads dont fit
Brake pads dont fit
I purchased the StopTech Street Performance pads from the Tire Rack, they have been back ordered for 5 weeks.
I had the mechanic install them on Saturday and he called me and said the front brakes don't fit they seem to be for an 08 model, but the rear brakes were fine.
I checked their site and no matter what model year you put in the Manufacturer Part #: 309.08880 is the brake they recommend.
I have a 2010 G37x Coupe built before 3/20/10 as their site asks the build date.
Any ideas why they don't fit or what the proper Manufacturer Part # would be?
I am trying to call tire rack and Stop Tech today to see if they can answer the question too.
Thanks.

Do the part numbers on the pads themselves match what's on the box? Quite possible they got mispackaged.
It would appear tire rack's site doesn't differentiate between awd and rwd coupes. Stoptech's site does. Wouldn't be the first time TR's database was in error.

Brakes and their. lol
Sorry about that I thought I went back over the post and fixed that.
The part number on the box matches the brake, I am having the Tire Rack look into it now.
I didn't see a part look up on the Stop Tech site to compare part numbers.

This is the site I got the lookup from: WELCOME TO CENTRIC PARTS - Centric Parts
Stoptech is a product line manufactured by them according to the webpage.

Yes I saw that site but I didnt find anything.
I spoke to Stoptech and they said that the brakes were the right ones.
I called the mechanic and he said that the brakes were no where near the right size.
I hate Infiniti when it come to Brake part numbers I had the same issue finding Hawk brakes for my G35. It's always some special piece on the brake or part number variables.

I should have whatever comes with the G37x Base model, I bought it used so I only know it's a G37x Coupe.
I know it doesn't have the sports package as it has small calipers.
Plus no matter what model I enter on the tire rack site it comes back with the part number I have.

call tire rack and tell them. i'm sure they'd be more than happy to help you out. i have had dealings with them and so have some of my friends, and they have never been anything but truely helpful.
I have been in contact with Tire Rack and they are awesome to deal with I have been using them for a few years.
The mechanic is trustworthy they replaced my instrument panel glass for 100$ the dealer wanted 390$.
He just left Infiniti as a master mechanic and started his own business.

I ran into this problem a few times. Install the pads without shims or get another set, it's a manufacturing defect. Shims help keep some heat away but are primarily for noise suppression so keep that in mind.
