BC Racing Coilover Install Question

I just received my BC Racing Coilovers today for my 2010 AWD Sedan.

The front strut mounts are quite different than I have seen on all of the DIYs (all RWD).

1. Has anyone come across a good AWD DIY?
2. If not, when I read the FSM it states you need to remove the drive shaft and remove the upper link from the steering knuckle.

That seems like more work than I was anticipating... Is it all actually necessary? I had assumed I would just need to loosen the bolt holding the strut in place (looks like some kind of compression/friction fit) and then remove the bolts from the top strut place and presto.
