Brake Caliper aging?!

I'm new here and purchased my Infiniti a few months back and I've noticed that my non-sport brake calipers are going through an aging process it seems. When I first purchased them they seemed silver and shiny, now looking at them they seem to have a "kettle pot" look to them and are dull speckled looking. Is this normal? Can it be cleaned up? I'm not sure if I want to paint non-sport brake calipers...

Probably just brake dust accumulating. Take off the wheels and give the calipers a good cleaning.

I didn't even notice anyone replied to this thread... So, I'm assuming to it's brake dust like you all said. So, just spray them and clean them I suppose. Wire brush I'm assuming...

Don't take a wire brush to them!!! Would you do that to your fender??? Their painted...treat them as you would the rest of the painted surfaces on your car.

I don't think the non-sport ones are painted. But either way, I wouldn't use a wire brush

Non-sport calipers arent painted, but I think they have some sort of zinc coating on them (I remember mine being a slightly yellowish shiny when new, I think)

I wouldnt take a wire brush to them, but the brake spray should help.

you'll notice the similar stuff accumulating on your brake discs sometimes, this is normal. As others have already said buy a brake cleaner if you're that fussy
