G37x Alignment Sensitivity

In the Sedan thread, I had previously asked for help as I have a 2010 G37x with about 1,700km on it which suffered from an oversteer like feeling since i had bought it. (I had a 2009 G37x before and I KNEW the new 2010 felt different (i.e. the handling was off somehow)).

I had the dealer do an alignment thinking it might be the rear toe but in the end, the front toe was actually off. The dealer charged me for the alignment. The front toe should be 0.00 to 0.08 but one wheel was 0.12 and the other was -0.12.

I am hoping for assistance on the following:
1) The vehicle is only 1.5 months old and has less than 2,000km on it so this misalignment issue presumably came from the factory. Now that the alignment is fixed, the car drives like it should but how far off spec is -0.12 in absolute terms? i.e. How far off spec could you dial the front toe? (-.24, -.50??) I would like to get my money back from the dealer on the alignment but I want to make sure they're not going to say that -.12 isn't that far off.

2) When I bought the car, it only had 15kms on the odometer but assuming that -.12 versus 0 is a significant variance, should I have any concerns that the car maybe fell off the delivery truck or something or is this something that actually could have been misconfigured at the factory?

Thank you.

you shouldnt of had to pay anything. with 1700 km and misaligned wheels, you would have to drive over 5000 potholes for it to misalign like that. get your money back

I disagree completely. It wasn't that far off. It didn't have to have pre delivery damage to be that far off either. Lots of things can take your car out of optimal alignment spec. Most places guarantee alignment for 60 or 90 days or so (read your warranty on your invoice or call and ask them.) If you think something is wrong, wait until near the end of that period and take it back to get checked. If it's off, they redo it for free.

Sometimes techs don't tighten everything as tightly as they should after an alignment and it can be jostled out of spec more easily. I don't think yours was off enough to worry about. One big pothole, curb, or bump could put it off by that much IMO.
