40 series tires all around on stock 19s

I just want to make sure that it's ok to run 40 series tires on the stock sport 19's.

the OEM set up is 225/45 and 245/40
my set up would be 225/40 and 245/40

I figured it shouldnt make any difference as the width is same as stock and every non staggered car runs same series tires. Just want to make sure this wont harm anything with a staggered set up. thanks

You'll be okay but why would you want to do that? the 40's in the front will look to small.

they were a used set of winter tires so picked up what I could for the right price. I dont think they would look small, they would look even all around

A 225/40 has a lower profile than a 245/40.

I would think that it would mess up the VDC a little bit. The computer will think that the front tires are spinning faster than they should be based on the rear tires and might engage the stability control system. I wouldn't recommend it. When i had a 2003 G35 coupe, I had 275-40-17 all around for track tires and used them with the VDC off. When I had the VDC on, it would sometimes intervene. Nothing bad, but enough to make you go hmmm.

yea i figured that might happen but just hoped that the front tire difference was minimal and would not set off any traction control. Guess I will find out when I put them on though

I know other cars like the m3 run a similiar set up. their stock tires are 245/40 and 265/40
