I was looking at the volks but was wondering what are the characteristics of forged magnesium are they lighter but stronger or weaker?

 

Magnesium is lighter.

However, Magnesium rims cannot be repaired, and they must be kept CLEAN, as they corrode very quickly.

Also, you better hope it never touches anything super hot, and they cost a hell of a lot more.


The current debate is Mg vs CF vs Al. However, Mg and CF wheels are out of budget for most people. You'd be spending close to the price of a new G for a few sets.

 

CF wheels are appox 8-10k per set, FWIW.

 

There are no mass produced full CF wheels for cars, yet. Dymags are CF barrels with MG faces, and those cost roughly 10k a set, give or take, depending on the sizes you want.

I doubt any G guys would run them, as G guys typically have no interest in high offset/ wide wheels.
