brakes, tires, etc

Just bought a new G37S sedan - noticing some issues with the transmission, but nothing like the harsh shift from 4th to 3rd. Most noticeably the lag of shift/acceleration when opening up the throttle at highway speeds. So, am taking the car in on Wednesday for the tranny software update anyway...

As for brakes, with normal driving, what kind of mileage can expect out of pads on the bigger sport brakes? I've reading that pad wear on earlier models was poor and that while the pad wear is better with the newer models, the braking action isn't quite as 'crisp'. So far, the brakes seem quite good, but nothing super impressive.

For tires, I'm thinking about replacing the stock RE050's (when they wear out) with either RE050 Pole Position or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. As you guys know, these two tires don't come in the stock size for the fronts (225/50/18). Seems like a common oversize setup is 245/45/18 front and 275/40/18 rear.

Have any of you noticed better/poorer handling/response with 245's up front?

Can't really help you since I've got a G35 on the tranny - but I can say is that I'm in an FX35 rental car in the Colorado Rockies now and this thing just doesn't go in 5-7 gear, there's too many damn gears in this thing ha. I miss my simple 5AT, it's got gobs of power in all gears - I can hammer down in 5th gear and it'll pass no problem. Maybe this FX needs a tranny update as well.

Do you have the Sport wheels? Change them out and get better tires along with it - it'll change the look of the car so much. I'm jealous of your Akebonos!

I would also liek to know how long the brakes last on a 2009X sedan. If first generation G35s are any indication, the brake DO NOT last long at all...

Did anyone change pads yet in an 09X? or an 08X for that matter? What milage?

Went in today to have the transmission reprogrammed. Don't really notice anything different... Tech said to expect 30k on the brake pads.
