sure you go ahead and drive reverse going 20mph and slam on the brakes. brilliant idea why didnt we think of that.

that little squeak will get worse overtime. check your rotors for unusual marks. i had the same problem but got it fixed by my favorite dealer! the squeak is slowly coming back though!

more of an excuse to upgrade to some slotted rotors and ceramic brake pads! we need some nice rotors anyway to compliment the brake calipers.

I have the same problem squeaking and I've taken my car to several different dealer shops but none of them figured it out. every single dealer shop said that there was no problem lol
Why I hear squeaking sound then

I've asked repeatedly and they just shrug and say "nothing we can do". What makes it bad is that the brakes are great otherwise. I have over 50K miles on the original pads and still have 40% left.

I too had the squeak when reversing. Unfortunately, I had to replace my brake pads at around 45k miles. Could have probably squeezed a few more thousand miles out of them, but I didn't feel it would be a smart item to try and squeeze the absolute maximum out of!

Either way, I had my rotors turned and replaced the brake pads with Akebono ProAct Ceramics. I believe they are a step up from the OEM Nissan ones.

A friend of mine helped me with the replacement, so I can say it's pretty easy once you actually see someone else do it. Pretty straight forward actually if you have the right tools.

I saw the Akebono emblem on the OEM pads, and those had 3 contact areas per pad, with 2 channels in between. The aftermarket ProActs only have 2 contact areas (although larger), and only 1 channel in between.

Once those were replaced, no noise whatsoever. These are a little better at stopping, although it could just be that my muscle memory is comparing used pads to brand new ones, but the point is that they don't make a single noise.

I've driven for 700 miles and no noise... whomever tells you its normal to have the noise is lying... I never thought it was normal for a $45k car to have it, and this is more proof that I was right...

Same for me, every time in reverse. Dealer stated its normal due to the big brakes and weight transfer.

WHen I hear my brakes squeak, it makes me feel great that I have such high performing brakes. Most people associate noise with abnormal. Wait till you run race pads or a much more aggressive pad. Your ears will love you.

It's normal for it to happen, but it's also fixable with maintenance. I'm a firm beliver that slotted rotors can help prevent this however.

SCRAPER SLOTS:
Full Sweep Scraper Slots dissipate heat, increases bite and reduces the stopping distance. Our slots also help to de-glaze and even out brake pads while throwing dust and debris away from the wheels. It also sheds water under-wet driving conditions.

Not normal, it's complete crap. I've had 6 different cars and none of them ever had problems with brakes sounding like damn screeching sirens when you go in reverse. It's embarrassing and unacceptable. I'm going to try applying the brakes real hard in reverse and see if that helps also considering the Akebono PROAct pads when I need replacements.
