Brakes squeak when I reverse. Anyone else?
that little squeak will get worse overtime. check your rotors for unusual marks. i had the same problem but got it fixed by my favorite dealer! the squeak is slowly coming back though!
Why I hear squeaking sound then
I've asked repeatedly and they just shrug and say "nothing we can do". What makes it bad is that the brakes are great otherwise. I have over 50K miles on the original pads and still have 40% left.
I too had the squeak when reversing. Unfortunately, I had to replace my brake pads at around 45k miles. Could have probably squeezed a few more thousand miles out of them, but I didn't feel it would be a smart item to try and squeeze the absolute maximum out of!
Either way, I had my rotors turned and replaced the brake pads with Akebono ProAct Ceramics. I believe they are a step up from the OEM Nissan ones.
A friend of mine helped me with the replacement, so I can say it's pretty easy once you actually see someone else do it. Pretty straight forward actually if you have the right tools.
I saw the Akebono emblem on the OEM pads, and those had 3 contact areas per pad, with 2 channels in between. The aftermarket ProActs only have 2 contact areas (although larger), and only 1 channel in between.
Once those were replaced, no noise whatsoever. These are a little better at stopping, although it could just be that my muscle memory is comparing used pads to brand new ones, but the point is that they don't make a single noise.
I've driven for 700 miles and no noise... whomever tells you its normal to have the noise is lying... I never thought it was normal for a $45k car to have it, and this is more proof that I was right...

WHen I hear my brakes squeak, it makes me feel great that I have such high performing brakes. Most people associate noise with abnormal. Wait till you run race pads or a much more aggressive pad. Your ears will love you.
It's normal for it to happen, but it's also fixable with maintenance. I'm a firm beliver that slotted rotors can help prevent this however.
SCRAPER SLOTS:
Full Sweep Scraper Slots dissipate heat, increases bite and reduces the stopping distance. Our slots also help to de-glaze and even out brake pads while throwing dust and debris away from the wheels. It also sheds water under-wet driving conditions.
