VDC / Sliding in the rain

I was driving last night after it had been raining and the road was wet. My G was sliding around the road especially on take off even at low speeds. It has less than 10,000 miles so the tires should be good. I turned off the VDC and it seemed to be a bit better but it was pretty nerve-racking. Anyone else experience that? Is that normal?

Got to love the power! I have VDC turned on, and haven't really pushed it yet but it still is working hard in first gear. I am yet to drive in the rain, should be fun though!

The stock tires are decent tires... Not the best but they are decent. My guess is that it had not rained in a while in your area. Thus when it did rain, it mixed with all the oils on the road, which made it extra slippery.

Question though.. Is this your first RWD car?

Get some more experience in the car and your problem will go away. Probably pushing a little hard on green and slipped over paint on the road?

At any rate leave vdc on in the rain

That's probably part of it... With heavy acceleration, RWD cars are notorious for oversteer and fishtailing. This is exaggerated even more when on wet surfaces. On wet, RWD loses its traction advantage to front or all-wheel drive vehicles which have greater weight on the driven wheels. Rear wheel drive cars with rear engine configurations do not suffer from this, although fishtailing remains an issue.

So given that we have a front engine and RWD... We suffer from fishtailing with heavy acceleration and wet conditions. So why not have it be FWD??? Typically, FWD cars cannot handle the power of a performance car and are generally limted to 200 - 300 hp.

the first couple of weeks of having the car, the vdc warning light would come on every day from me peeling out. i had little experience with a 6mt, was fun though. vdc off in the rain when the car is in a turn is scary, did that a couple of times. eek.

You should definitely leave your VDC on....especially in the rain.
