From what I have been told you can adjust the height of the BCs where as with just springs you are stuck with whatever the drop is. Also you can adjust the stiffness (dampening I think) to make it more of a stiff ride or cushioned ride.

yea you are adjusting the dampening when you change the stiffness.. And also being able to play with your ride height just incase you change your mind or want to go to a track or something you have the ability to change your ride height and stiffness... coils are the way to

bare with me here. What height do they come? Like, do you install them, then tinker with them to adjust the ride? Do you measure them and adjust before install? How easy is it to adjust height and stiffness while installed on the car, just pull the wheel and click away?

the height you will need to take off your rim... and the stiffness is just a turn of a ****... VERY easy.. you adjust the height when its on the car...

More Questions

I read in one of the posts that 12/8 is the ideal setting for the dampeners as far as comfort and a reasonable stiffness is concerned. I assume that is 12 clicks for the front and 8 for the rear. I don't know where to start making the clicks from. Do I go max softness and do 12 clicks toward the hardest setting or is it the oppisite hard to soft? I know I will be able to change the settings easily but want to start out at a good point before I install them. Is there a good place to start for the height? Like a measurement for the length of the dampners to be set at before install. Want to start at an inch all around but also read that 1" front and .8" rear is the ideal drop. Sorry for all the questions but the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Plan on doing the install this weekend. Praying my wheels come by then if not, I'll put them on later.

^^Actually I think the 12/8 you are refering to is the spring rates not the dampening. I run mine at 13 of 30 in the front and 15 of 30 in the rear for daily driving. I am still playing with them trying to find the happy medium between too stiff for DD and still good performance.

Kidcane thanks for the input. I'm thinking I'll measure my old units when I take them out and then shorten the new units about an inch before installing them. Does that make any sense to you?

Chucky, make sure to start a nice thread with some pics once you get those wheels and coilovers installed. I can't wait to see them.

Last minute advise please

no new wheels. Kidcane, you are right about the 12/8 I must of had a senior moment What do you think about measuring the old struts then shorting the new ones about an inch before installing them? Also, after inital install and I start adjusting the struts do you or anyone else have an idea of how much a full turn at the bottom of the strut will raise or lower the car? Or should I give it a day or so for the springs to settle? Also,on the dampning did you start at the softest or hardest setting? I'm doing the install tomarrow. I'll take heed of all the great advise. Thanks again, wish me luck. I'm a decent mechanic but this is my first go around with coilovers. I'll check for last minute advise before I install.

When your adjusting the struts one full turn will not be noticable... these are very tunable... but with the way there on there you cant turn full turns... each turn will be prolly between a 1/4 and a 1/2 turn. just turn them suckers and measure... its really about trial and error... you just need to make sure your raise and lower the strut the same amount you raise and lower the spring...

PM me or IM me if you have any questions... Sharif did a great job at teaching me how and talking me through the adjustment part of it! so i can help out a little bit ...
