2012 G37xS Coupe

I want to upgrade the front suspension from stock. Previous owner replaced the rear struts 20k miles ago.

1. Am I looking for "X" compatible suspension components, or am I looking for "S" compatible suspension components. None of these sites have "xS" listed anywhere. CarID.com lists "X" or "S". The car has big brakes, STOCK 19'' non-staggered Enkei wheels (8.5'' all around), magnesium paddle Shifters, so I'm assuming it has the sport tuned suspension, but I've read that the AWD and RWD have different specifications for the FRONT suspension. Which leads to my next questions: does this thing have a sport tuned suspension? Or, does it actually come equipped with the basic X suspension. I really can't tell, though I'd assume it's the sport, but then I wonder how Infiniti made that work when everyone is writing that the AWD front suspension has different specifications from the S.

2. Some recommendations on aftermarket parts that fit up front? I hear Koni yellows don't fit upfront and KYB was pretty mediocre on my G35. I want something stiffer.

3. Some recommendation on non-break the bank coil-overs. Not the cheapest. Not the most expensive out there. Something cost effective that operates nearly as good as the top tier parts.

4. Can you use coil-overs up front, without changing the back struts out to coil-overs?

5. If all else fails, a recommendation on a good aftermarket strut, better than KYB, that fits upfront on this car, and a recommendation for lowering springs that I can drop in (front and back), to be cost effective (if I can't just use coil-overs upfront without changing the rears).

6. A recommendation for a good site for aftermarket G37 parts.

Appreciate the help. I don't know much about aftermarket suspensions. Mostly just learning how to improve the vehicle, as I plan to keep it for a while.

Hey man. We've got the same type of car, and I went through the same thing your doing. I spent countless hours, at least 100+, combing over posts on here, and I came to the conclusion that coilovers are just not worth it for us AWD owners, unless we're tracking the car. And there aren't many options to choose from, all with hit or miss reviews. It's a bit of a gamble. If it's your daily driver, you don't really need all the extra capabilities, and costs, of coilovers. I went with Eibach springs, but Swift makes good springs as well. For struts, OEM are expensive as hell. I've read decent reviews of the KYB's for the AWD. Some saying they're even better than OEM. I can't attest for any of that. What I do know is that I've been using them for about 6 months, and zero complaints. Especially since I cost a fraction of the OEM price. And depending how low you go, you may want to get a camber and toe kit. Eibach you'll need it, but I heard you shouldn't with Swift springs, as it's a milder drop. Plenty of posts on here with pics so you can compare the drop yourself.

Take a look at my post to see how it looks. I just updated it with pics of my new wheels.

1. Yes you should look for anything that fits G37x. Shock or coilover wise, Sedan or coupe doesn't matter. Lowering springs are different because the sedan springs and coupe springs are different stiffness, thus you have to go for something designed for the body type.
2. The only aftermarket shocks for G37x are KYBs. That's it. Or coilovers from BC, Fortune Auto, Silver, Feal etc.
3. BC is the minimum I would go. Anything cheaper than 1k for coilovers are usually hot garbage because: aftermarket shocks 500+ good springs 300+ all the R&D for the top mount and all that. So anything below that is not worth it. BC is the bare minimum and they are not very good even imo.
4. Yes technically you can but the balance may feel off. It would require a lot of fine tuning to the coilovers in front in terms of height and rebound stiffness. It is not worth it in my opinion.
5. KYB is the only choice and from what I heard the G37 KYBs are much better than older versions. Lowering springs: Swift for even drops, eibach for more aggressive drops but you may get a drooping rear, everything else hot garbage.
6. Concept Z performance or Z1 Motorsports
