2012 Infiniti G37 IPL. Looking for a pad with very strong initial bite but low dust. Got the Centric posi-quites but they aren't very strong unless you mash the pedal. Had the Stoptech street performance pads but didn't like the low speed grip. Gave off a bit of dust also. They were fine on the highway though. Same with the Centric premiums, just lower dust and not as aggressive on the highway. Don't want linear pads. Want a grippy pad that will stop on a dime and cause my a.b.s to activate. Had semi-metallics before but too much dust. No racing pads cause i hate having to warm them up plus winter is coming. What do you recommend? Thanks

 

 

Ive been through two iterations of rotor and pad combinations for my G37S. My first go-around was the drilled and slotted Stoptech rotors and pad combo. This was adequate but the effort was not linear with respect to the stopping power and the feel was vague. The second iteration replaced the Stoptech pads with Carbotech 1521 brake pads. This is by far the best brake combination i've had on a car save the racing pads and rotors I used back in college. I'm not really sure why you are not wanting a linear brake feel and why you want to activate your ABS system but to each their own. The combo I settled on is extremely linear once the pads are warm which only takes one or two stops. They grip solidly and can activate the ABS if your overzealous on the pedal; plus there is practically no dust building up on the wheels

 

I drive hard and real fast and i love it when i tap the brakes and it makes my head almost slam into the steering wheel. I feel this with new rental cars but not my car because of the low dust ceramics. I slam the brakes and it calmly brings me to a stop. I like to go on the back roads or on the highway when it's clear and have fun sometimes so i need that extra stopping power. I also hate cleaning my wheels. That's why i need a low dust pad. And i just checked the site out. They make linear race pads. Just the opposite of what i'm looking for. Thanks anyway

 

 

@OP what tires are you using? Maybe a grippier tire would help?

 

Yokohama UHP A/S tires. It's not the tires it's the pads. I've tried different pads with the same tires.

 

https://www.powerstop.com/product/power-stop-z26/. Got these now. Like them. Rockauto has the best price. Low dust and better stopping power than the posi-quites. Don't think they make a ceramic pad that can stop on a dime but these are good enough. I know the other guy had the drilled and slotted stoptech rotors before but those are just for show, as far as street use is concerned, as they will actually take longer to stop because they have less friction area and they take longer to warm up. Those are really meant for the track,

 

Those are the ones I just got and have been running them about a month (1000-1200 miles). Very satisfied with the stopping power. Actually, I'm still getting used to them and will stop short of where I intended from time to time. On a couple of occasions, I had to perform an emergency stop, when people in front of me started standing on their own brakes, and I was able to stop well short of the car in front of me; even have had to ease up on them to give the person behind me some extra room since they were coming in too hot. I do a ton of mixed driving and there's hardly (if any) brake dust. Putting fresh brake fluid in today so they should only feel better.
