Ride performance on coil overs vs springs
Ride performance on coil overs vs springs
Hello all,
I've had my 2011 G37 on Eibach springs for a little over a year now and I absolutely love the look.
However Orlando roads are taking a toll on me & it's to the point where I want to go back to stock for a better feel. My *** can only take so many potholes/road height variances from i4.
I originally went the springs route as I thought it'd end up cheaper than COs but after camber arms, issues with alignment, etc. I'd probably have been better off just getting some quality COs like KW or maybe budget TEINs.
My question is: if I got a set of quality COs to replace my springs - would I find a comfortable balance between ride quality and being lowered to the aesthetic I'd like to achieve with the car?
I absolutely hated the stock springs look but if I could get even half of the ride performance back but keep the lowered look, it'd be ideal.
Also side note, would I still need the SPC camber arms if I switched to COs? I've never done suspension adjustments to a car prior to my G so this is still all very new to me.

If you haven't add adjustable front upper arms, then yes.
10k/8k rates will feel pretty close to stock.
The difference in pricing comes down to quality of components and damping sophistication. Keep in mind Germany's TUV (their NHTSA) doesn't allow separate ride height adjustment, you have to increase preload to lower the car and this will compromise ride somewhat. Applies to KW and Bilstein.
